Congrats Mark. That is definitely a ride I want to do as well and has been on the books since the Great Ride North. It will be the Great Ride East.
Engineer looks cool too.
JW; You are right about these 1150 SE's. There is something about them.

Possibly letting mine go...

Contemplating a change so I thought I'd put it up to the brethern first... This is my 4th GSA (12th or so GS) and this one I bought to be a street queen... and perhaps the most tricked out one I've seen... everything from carbon fiber, to WP suspension ($2500)... and literally everything in between. I still have all the stock gear so I would probably be smart to part it out... but perhaps there is someone who would see the value here and keep her intact. When I put the list together the cost of the upgrades/farkles will probably cause me not to sell it, 52k miles ... but who knows... PM me if you want to talk...

Just returned from a two-up trip to Nordcapp (North Cape) on 1150GSA (2004) and what a wonderful bike it is. I bought it in Nov.2010 for almost no money and that is great for the Carnet. If your bike is worth $20,000 then where you go has to be somewhere that does not need a Carnet. Egypt charges 5 x price so you need to show your carnet value at $100,000! Mine is about $5,000. Only problem we had was the final drive wheel bearing. If you are going on a long trip then take a bearing and a seal and a 7 mm allen key. I don't know why but the 6 bolts on the hub are 7mm.

I've been looking at this leather cover and the price seems about right. Are these the ones that we see on e-bay or did you get it somewhere else?

Hey Fellas!

Well, I know it's been way too long, but I'm dropping in to say HOWDY! I hope you've all behaved in my absence (or not) and I hope you all still have the (mostly) shiny side up!

I'm back in the saddle again so I'm sure you'll hear more from me in the future. In the next couple of weeks I'm going to compile a final list to update the registry, then I'm hoping that someone will be willing to step forward and take it over. I offered it to a very GS friendly BMW dealership but they seem to have lost interest.

Anyway... I'm back, bitches.
