Borroloola NT area

I had this asked of me and I have not been up there: very experienced riders on road bikes

......... someone who has done the Burketown Borroloola leg, things like road quality, water crossings and fuel stops.

well you could, but I wouldn't

Dave,

I rode this area a year ago on a 640 adv and while the roads from Hells gate were in good condition the bike is very forgiving and could sit on 100km/h comfortably. The river crossings can be a bit ordinary and they would no doubt bottom out in some places on road bikes.

If he was referring to the Highway in and out there would be no issues at all. They are sealed and in Good nick.

Hope this helps

Was through there in June.
The roadhouse at Hells Gate has closed and so fuel range from Tiranna to Borroloola is needed - about 400 km.
The road deteriorated steadily from Hells Gate to the NT border, with deep corrugations and deep dust. At the border it magically improved dramatically and was in reasonable order from there on - some medium corrugated patches.
The water crossings were undramatic and a road bike could be easily walked across if in doubt, which would be wise as there were some with a few boulders and a bit slippery.
