Thanks for the great report and photos Venturer, I toured Turkey by bike (Wee strom 650) in 2006 and loved every kilometre. I, as an Australian have never felt so welcomed in any country as your compatriots welcomed us. The road along the black sea will remain one of the greatest rides I have ever done. I dare say you too will enjoy it.

Fantastic country and people.

Kind regards, Craig

The road along the coast has recently become a two-way lane on one side and another on the other, therefore;safer and more enjoyable route to follow.I hope to take that trip.

Thank you for posting all the great photos. I had the privilege to live in your country for a year in 1970 and really loved the people and the culture. The photos, especially the battlefield areas from WWI brought back memories.

I was based out of Cakmakli, and during our Thanksgiving holiday, we were at Corlu, and drove down to the Dardanelles area, and took the ferry over to Troy. We actually had lunch in front of the Australian war memorial.

One day I may get a chance to return and see how things have changed.

Doug

I am living very close to Çorlu now.Don't forget me if you get that chance.I'll find you a bike and we'll ride together. You must already have forgotten the taste of those famous Tekirdag meatballs and some other typical examples of Turkish cuisine.

Really nice report and pictures. I'd love to visit Turkey one day. A very good friend of mine was stationed there and has nothing but good things to say!

Many thanks for the time and effort to share this beautiful and educational report. Many of us never get to see the rest of the world except for ride reports such as yours.

I just watched the documentary Gallipoli (via NetFlix). I had no idea. It was appalling.

Ataturk was quiet a man indeed - A real shame there isn't more of his ilk on the World Political Stage.

Both my Grandfathers fought at Gallipoli -
