GS Death Valley - CA: Saline Valley Road

We rode south on Saline Valley Road from the north to the south...

Got stuck in deep sand outside the hot springs. Turned around and went back north. Go figure that a Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer could make it and a Toyota Tacoma 2WD and we were f'd in the desert. You can see the backdrop of the Sierra Nevada Mountains behind the bikes...So much snow in October. The additional fuel canisters are from Roto-Pax...and they are great on road---and a little heavy off-road.

It was a great off road trip...Can't wait till next year. We do this ride every Colmubus Day weekend.

It is our annual end of the "official" riding year bike riding event. We are from San Francisco and there are about 75 riders and about 10 on GS bikes. Everyone starts together and rides to their various destinations while meeting up in predestined towns for overnight visits.

Cheers.

You guys did Saline on those tires? I rode saline on my GSA with Mitas E09's and found it tough. Lots of rocks, ruts, sand washes, one silt wash. My rear splash guard came off too. That was an adventure for sure.
