V7 Sport vs BMW /2

Preferences? Good / bad points? Which would you rather have? Why?

Yo Ernie,

Did we do this already?

Anyway, Guzzi is my pick: sounds better, prettier, easier to work on. Some unique V7 parts are scarce, but all the regular Guzzi bits are relatively easy to come by.

The tall-geared V7 Sport is a real mile muncher. Just don't expect modern stopping power.

Kidding, right? There aren't 2 BMWs made that I'd rather have than a V7 Sport.

Which is stronger: your Italian or your German? If you haven't read an old parts diagram, you probably think I'm joking.

IMO of course. Split frame to pull the bike off the drivetrain, enclosed pushrod tubes, so no rubber seals to harden and leak, no special trick to setting up the rocker arms, super-stout bottom end, no pressed-together anything in the driveshaft/u-joint assemblies, easier access to steering stem bearings, really no special tools required unless you are going to disassemble the gearbox, VHB Dellortos, realy long-lasting dual points set up.

You make some valid points, but at best I'd call them a trade-off for the things that are easier on a /2, but, as you said, its just my opinion as well...

Your kidding.................right? A /2 vs. a V7 Sport? ANYONE that would prefer a /2 is either a total beemerphile or a total retard. Comparing these 2 is like asking if you're prefer a BMW 1600 or a Ferrari Dino. Except that in the case of the bikes, one is just as reliable as the other. Not so with the car analogy.
See ya
Chris

This is a no brainer. The V7 is so much more bike than any 1955 to 1969 BMW it isn't even a fair comparision. Now if you said a V7 Sport vs. an R90S (it would be much closer) but I would still take the V7 due to the rarity, plus I have had a bunch of 90S's. How about an Eldorado vs. a /2? Easy! The /2 wins everytime in my eyes!

The only post war BMW (1950-1969) I would take over a V7 Sport would be a 1954 R68.
