You did say your an old 2 stroke guy. Stop putting oil in your gas!!
On a serious note. Is your bike an LC4? If so, some of the exhaust flange bolts are threaded completely through into the rocker box. It has a crush washer on it. Even if it's not an LC4 head, I'll bet this is the case.

Lol i know. My YZ250 always leaked a bit until I replaced the expansion chamber. I noticed too when I started it up before I sold it, that it had some smoke coming from it. If it was a 2 smoke, I wouldn't care a bit. :)

I have a KTM RFS. 2002 according to my title. I don't know if they go in all the way or not. If on the off chance maybe the oil rings are stuck, this weekend I'm going to do a shock treatment of Yamaha ring free plus through it. I also need to cross my fingers and hope magic racing has the parts in stock to replace my water pump seal. It doesn't leak much, but I most certainly don't want to run out of coolant in the middle of a loop.

I had no idea what Yamaha Ring Free was. So I searched it $200.00 a quart?? WTF?? I use Seafoam and Lucas oil octane booster on occation. Another good fuel additive product is Rocket fuel.

To some, this is all snake oil.

Look up the part #'s online and call Duane (with the part #'s) at Oakland Sports Center - 248.673.3366 - he'll have what you need.

Pretty sure the exhaust flange studs thread into blind holes. If it was valve seals, you'd be burning oil and smokin like a ding-ding.

Valve cover (not valve inspection covers) is prone to leaking and drooling down the head, easy to re-seal. Clean everything out and put some talc powder on it, that will tell you where the leak originates.

Lol what? I just picked up 3.2 ounces for $3.47. It treats 5 gallons, which is obviously more than my tank can hold. :)

Basically its seafoam specifically designed for powersports, and in more convenient bottles. I don't need a big ole bottle, so I got this. I know my valves are worn, but like Bruno said, if I was getting blowby via valves or piston, I'd be smoking like a banshee, which I'm not. Still unnerving though.

As for snake oil... I did 3 shock treatments in my 1978 Yamaha XS750 Special triple shortly after I got it because it had varnish in the carbs. Ran like hell when cold. The shock treatments helped significantly. It still ran a bit rough when cold, but I never had to pull the carbs on it. Thank god too... Pulling one is bad enough, let alone 3. Lol.

Its not a miracle fix, but it can't hurt.

That is a stock BMW 1200 GS Adventure. Nothing to outfit, it is already done.

I'm glad you cleared that up...for a minute there I though a Gold Wing had swallowed a proper dirt bike.

Mike has a standard GS 1200 with some mods, it'd be pricey to buy all the parts to convert it into an 'adventure'.

You'd be better off selling yours and buying an adventure, it's a lot heavier and less agile though.
