I will give that loop a shot. I got really spoiled where I lived in Germany.
Just take North territorial west towards 52 and you'll find it. There are a bunch of other good roads when you get to the end of hankered on the north and head west from there.

Hey guys. I want to do a pavement/trail ride with as much trail as I can get my knobbies on. Leaving out of Novi/Northville and spending one night in a tent somewhere up North. Suggestions? Anyone is welcome to come too, as long as you don't mind riding with a straight noob who has *never* ridden dirt before.

I rode up to Geels after work, spent the night, rode trails with friends, spent another night, and came home.

I slabbed it all the way up. I assume that dirt roads would double the time, if not more, it'd take to get to the trail?

Are you set on the ORV trails or anything dirt?

Eh, I'm okay with pavement on the way up. It would just be nice if there are some ORV trails that can take you part of the way up too.

You should ride the dirt roads before you ride the sand trails in Gladwin.

Do you have a GPS??? I would download the LP GLDS route (and VVmapping map) and shoot for the Harrison/Clare area. I've done it via back roads and dirt roads, nice ride. Once you hit that area, you can ride whatever interests you. Use the GLDS route or VVmapping ORV trails as a base line, but there are plenty of other roads/two tracks/ trails to explore. Basically whatever you feel more comfortable riding. If your camping, best plan is no plan. Just explore whatever looks interesting.

I may even still have the .gpx file of the backroads I shot up there on.

When do you plan on doing this?
I may be down for a run.

What's your steed?

I wanted to see who might be interested in a McBikers ride on Saturday April 19th at 11AM at the McDonalds at M59 and Airport road in Waterford. I am hoping it is warm by then. If we meet at 11AM it will warm up a bit with the sun that will be out that day. I was going to bring my GS and follow mostly gravel roads.

It could take three hours to finish the loop depending how much yacking goes on at each stop. We usually stop in some parks and a gas stop for red bull.

Depending on what the group wants to do we may have a lunch stop too.

The GS will be wearing a new pair of shoes.

Matt the Death Valley tour.
