Today it is
  • Family Center and
  • City Recreation Offices.
But it looks like it must have been something else in a previous life.

Didn't know the Confederates staged at Westminster, so I was way off. I was trying to find something over around Williamsport and Hagerstown.

They did neither.

Stuart's Division of Cavalry passed through both as a part of his screening and scouting missions in support of the main Army. A mission he failed.

According to this plaque, prior to the battle of Gettysburg, Stuart's army was camped out in Westminster, with Hancock's union troops in Uniontown. Hancock ignored claims that the confederates was just miles away.

Yeah, sorry about the no parking sign. ;) I rode quite a bit actually, I had planned on taking the picture at a very easy to recognize dam, but they've placed barricades all over the place since 911 making it impossible to get a recognizable picture. I just wanted to get something that I knew somebody would find back up to keep the game rolling. I took some other pictures, but I didn't want to make it too difficult to figure out.

I even put half of the name of the town and the name of the street in the clue. ;)

And thanks for the clues, I googled longwell st to find the building. I have lived in the area for 20 years and never noticed that building.

LOL, that's pretty funny. Nice looking bike btw!

Yeah, after the tag was grabbed I notice the way to clues worked out. When you said to go West, I just figured that you menat the direction. I kinda thought the street may have Long in the name, but didn't notice that Well was also capitalized.

Damn, I just saw this thread and so knew where that was. I use to take Tae Kwon Do there for a couple of years as a kid. We use to refer to it as "the armory", but I don't really know why. Anyway, I'll wait for the next one.

Nice /6 BTW!

I have been trying to get there all week to get another photo and the weather and my wife have managed to screw that up. I have a Garmin .gdb file that is a route, starting at the Sheetz in Thurmont that will take you on a 70 mile adventure, round trip back to the Sheetz. Along this route you will pass this landmark. It is broken into two pieces, with a stop in the middle for gas and eats, you will pass the landmark in the first half, but I would suggest doing the whole route for the fun factor. The route will take you on a winding ride through some scenic roads, the roads are all paved, although some are tar and chip, looking like gravel. You can make the trip on any bike, but it would be especially fun on a big DS or adventure bike. My friend rode along with me last week on a FJR1300 and had no problems.

PM me with your email address and I will send you the route files.

The clues are this is the North ________ Overlook in a park on High Knob mountain Frederick County, the overlook is located on the main park road.
