Anyone ADV-ing the new 08 F650GS?
I am interested in the new F650GS as an adventure bike and allrounder (commute, light tour) option. Seems good value compared to the 800. Some crash protection, bash plate, HD tubes and it should be a good allrounder. Basically similar weight to my current Peg Trail, but more power.
Or am I dreaming?

I think the new F650 has cast tubeless wheels, so forget the HD tubes.

It is possible to run HD tubes with tubed tyres (Mitas EO9s would suit I think) on cast tubeless rims. I did it on my Weestrom because I was tired of tyres deflating due to dented rims.

At least around here the price is close enough that it's not a bargain IF you want the offroad features of the 800. If you just want to put TKCs on a 650 then it's a deal, but if you want the longer suspension, better brakes and if you're going to run tubes anyway, why not get the spoked rims, and the 800 is a better value. Again, IF that's what you're trying to achieve. |
