yeah. some usb cables have the data pins shorted to prevent the device from going into data mode and / or triggering a faster charge.

The Nook, apparently, uses some effed up usb cable.

no, i got one of those too- standard usb.

Thanks, but standard USB cables do not work for the Zumo 220 to enable it to be used for powering (as opposed to charging). It goes into data mode unless a Garmin charger is used.

When I connect my HP Touchpad to any mini usb to charge it I get an error message along the lines of "You have connected this device to a charger that is not original. Connect a genuine HP powercord to charge your device."

I can't charge the damn thing in the car when i'm going to or coming from somewhere.

I'll probably end up buying the Powerlet. I like that a the fuse holder is included. I'm not so fond of the price, though.

Actually, this one sounds a little better, but I'm pretty sure the USB connector has it's 90° bend facing the wrong way.
