Maine moto registration law change

In the past, in Maine, motorcycles were either registered for the street or you could get the ATV sticker for off-road riding - but you couldn't do both. So the letter of the law was sort of contradictory for dual sport owners/riders.

Last year the MEDSDBA was formed, and one of their goals was to straighten out some of these contradictions.

It seems they've been successful. This is from the AMA website:

The AMA and the MEDSDBA worked with state officials for months seeking clarification of the rights of riders on street-registered motorcycles.
...One of the first results ... was an agreement between the state Department of Motor Vehicles and the Department of Inland Fisheries & Wildlife that dual sport motorcycles can be legally dual-registered with a white plate for street use and an ATV sticker for off-road riding.
I don't know when this officially becomes policy, but it is a nice development.
There is a MEDSDBA meeting this Friday (13th) at 6pm at Maine Cycle in Auburn.
