Pissed

Water cooled, 160hp, 17" wheels, no more trademark underseat exhaust, front header routed directly under the sump, ABS & traction control, etc, etc.

Two words: WORTH. LESS.

If I wanted 160hp with a ghey name, I'd buy a Streetfighter .

Guess I'll replace my Multi with a F800GS when the time comes....

I think this thread should be merged with the one in road warriors as it's clearly a road bike. Mods...do as you will.

Ducati's answer to the GS

Has anyone else seen this? It's supposed to be an accurate computer generated picture of Ducati's answer to the GS.

A dealer who has seen the finished bike says '"This is an accurate representation of what the bike looks like. I know I could sell loads of them this week if they were available."

Full story is here.

http://www.motorcyclenews.com/MCN/Ne...cati-gs-rival/

It doesn't look like much of an off-road bike to me. What do you think? Should BMW start to get worried?

Not sure if it's true or not but the bike looks like the result of a hot and steamy night of love between a Hypermotard and Multistrada.

Neither of which have the water-cooled 4V engine that this beast will.

Any idea why they went that route? The 2V air cooled is so simple and solid not to mention less costly to maintain every 7500.

Seems like Ducati's design department got mixed signals for the project's goal. But, certainly looks better than the Multi.

Horsepower is infectious. And when you already have a powerplant that produces more than enough power and is suitable to the application, why not use it, especially if it gives you and advantage over your competition?

That is one awful photochopped creation.

Motorcyclenews is notorious for starting rumors...just an effort to sell more magazines in my opinion...

Remember when way back in 2007 they were revealing Honda's patent of the new 2008 VFR 1000 V5????

We're still waiting for that one..

This is MCN's attempt to get another couple of pages out of the 'spy pics' of the new bike it published a week or two ago.

Some pics on this page of a recent Road Warriors thread:

http://www.advrider.com/forums/showt...da+replacement

The bike in the pics, tho disguised with some judicious padding, looks much better than the bike the MCN artist presents here.

It is not so much Ducati answer to the GS as Ducati's bid for some buyers who might otherwise get a GS.

That is, those potential GS buyers who'd be sticking almost exclusively to the hardtop.

Expected to come with a 150hp engine adapted from the 1098 Superbike, and a 190 rear tyre on lightweight cast wheel.

I already have my Ducati answer to the GS thanks http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=428685

But seriously, for us tall riders that can't fit on Ducati's standard fair this may be just the thing, without having to go a Multi. Bring it on i say!
