Hey Chad. PM me if you want to borrow my 1985 XT350.

Yeah, I know it's not....like...fast or anything. But it runs fine.

Chad...I don't have an answer for the forks question but I have to get mine done on my 640, too. FYI, Nate sold the Bike Shack to Seth and Nate is working across the parking lot on cars. If my 640 were fixed, I'd loan it to you.

Putts,
Thanks for the offer! but looks like my buddy won't be making the trip. The mother of a close family friend of ours passed away and he is staying local in case he can support the family in any way.

Jim,
Good info on Seth now owning the bike shack. He'll do great.

Heya HF,
Sorry I don't have any info for you. I'm sure someone will pipe up. Go ahead and run it as is and you'll get a feel for how rich it's running. It will likely not be too bad so no hurry. I've ridden things jetted for sea level here and while rich, they are still not too bad. You could always buy or rent one of the AF ratio exhaust monitors from one of the local shops if you want to dial it in really tack on. Will take some messing with, though.
Chad

I'm thinking 52/155 w/2-2.25 turns on the screw but really don't want to pull my carb apart more than I have to.

Um...I've got a KLR.

Well, I've got an FJR too, but I'll be busy watching Moto GP at the Crystal.

Have fun!

(Like I need to say it.)

Can't give you any positive recommendations, but I can give you one huge negative one. Avoid Mike, the guy spamming craigslist with his commercial ads posted under for-sale-by-owner.

He ripped me off completely on some work on a bike, and I see in his spams he claims to specialize in suspension, but he couldn't even figure out how to order the proper wrench to adjust the spring on on my KTM - then repeatedly "forgot" to order it.

Sorry I can't be more positive than that. I have heard good things about Nate but not specifically related to suspension.

Also, Bike Shack update: Seth did buy it, but Nate still works there. They flipped roles. Nate wanted more free/family time, and asked Seth if he was interested in buying...yada yada yada.

Here's a start:

This, then this.

Then someone from Helena will have to help you out.

Hobbs,

Route here
Not sure if you are going to glacier on the east or west side of the rockies, but if the east, here is a route up to Great Falls that leaves off of the route recommended by puts. It starts in Townsend (gas) and ends in Great falls and once you turn off of Hwy 284, it is all gravel roads.
