I'm glad you grabbed it today Aarrff. For me, it's more of an issue of time than weather. I don't mind riding in the cold as long as there isn't any frozen stuff on the road. I almost grabbed the tag yesterday but I like to have at least two degrees of seperation between me and the last tag I've grabbed. i don't want to seem selfish. If it is just bouncing between you and me then I guess kicking it down the hill makes sense but I don't think we're there yet. Just my .02 No tagging for me til next week. I look forward to seeing where you put it. It might be fun to mount a rescue later if it bogs down in the middle. Joe

As much as I would love to say "Punt it to Middle" I can't, I am still on the DL for a few more weeks. But I still like following the tag around the state from the sideline. My two cents.
Lunch looked Good.!!

Good Grub Grab.
I've haven't TAG in awhile because of time issues, not the weather yet. I don't like to ride on the frozen stuff. Got stuck up on VA 58 between White Top Mt and Damascus last year. Temp in the low twenties and snowing (wasn't snowing down the hill). Had to Duck-Walk the bike for about 15 miles until I could get down to Boone. You couldn't drive a 20 penny nail in my butt with a sledge hammer.
As far as I am concerned put it anywhere you want.

NA Wild Card is stuck, NC ToR is still in the hills, hell, I'm considering riding up to Raleigh just to play Triangle ToR.

Nice grab.

Put it where ever you want. As long as it is moving around then the game is doing what it was put on here to do, Show the state and have fun doing it. So if you want to keep it in the hills for a while do it. I'm sure when the time comes for it to drop to the lower evevations it will.

Way to keep it moving folks.

Nice going Aarrff! I was afraid that all the leaves had fell off the trees and covered all the roads and bikes west of I-77.

Punt the tag to the warmer parts of the state and you will have an excuse to suit up and chase it down when its time to take it back to the hills.

Triangle tag is weird. Flashback said he grabbed it, but never posted a pic.
SO they're ALL busted.

Tag # 826

Guess we'll keep it in th' hill's fer a while but this'n aint much of a KTMer unless you got it on a pontoon This photo is over a year old but I figger it's still here:

Tag Shot:

This here slab of concrete is 480 feet tall and is the tallest dam in the eastern US. The most famous trail in the eastern US,with its vertical white blaze, crosses this slab as you will need to do to get this shot. It backs up a lake along the southwestern border of the Great Smokey Mountains National Park preventing travel to now deserted communities along such creeks as Eagle and Nolan and requires some families to visit graves of their elders by boat and you have probably heard about "The Road to Nowhere". Stop off on your way to ride the Dragon and visit the information center and it is a fantastic collection of history and photos about the construction of this dam and the lives of those affected.

Great tag there Aarrff. I've been there many times but I've never ridden across that particular slab of concrete. I was there about 10 years ago when they had one of the turbines opened up for an overhaul. First time since they were put in service. The project director told us that the main bearings hadn't seen the light of day since the generator had been put in service and he said they looked like they could go another 50 years. Now that's true American workmanship. He wasn't holding out a lot of hope that the new ones would fair as well. Now that is a sad commentary on our current state of craftsmanship in this modern age of economy over quality.

That's some interesting info! I need to stop and check out those visitor's centers more often when I get back out that way; however, I'm not makin' the 320 mile one-way ride this week! Nope, not gonna do it...not even with all that talk and tempting pics of great BBQ!

So the tag is 311 miles from where I'm at. That is almost 8 hours one way by Ural. Hmmmm.....the gears are turning.
