Something tells me the NCNC guys are going to kick this around for a while.

I had a pretty crappy & scary day on my motorcycle today. As I'm leaving the grab I get behind an older guy (65+) on a Harley. He's wearing tennis shoes (white of course), jeans and a short sleeve shirt which already proves he's an idiot. Something about him made me feel uneasy about following him so I was looking to pass at the first opportunity. Next thing I know I see a yellow lab standing on the right hand side of the road so I get on the brakes and ease to the left. Harley guy doesn't slow down or swerve and grazes the dog. I don't even think he saw him and amazingly he doesn't go down. I stopped to check on the dog and dipshit stopped about 100 yards up ahead. The dog lays there for a minute and eventually gets up and starts walking up the road and I can see blood coming from his head. I was hesitant to try to catch him as I didn't want to get bit. I go to the closest house and no ones home. I ended up going to about 15 different houses on the road talking to everyone I could and no one owns the dog or knows whom he might belong to. Dipshit leaves the seen rather quickly. So now I can't find the dogs owner, the dog, or the dumbass who hit him. I'm still kicking myself for not grabbing the dog by the collar. After about an hour I tell myself I've done everything I can and continue my ride.

A few hours later it's starting to get pretty dark and I'm coming up 109 out of Uwharrie when a rabbit (I think) runs right out in front of me so I brace for the impact. Thankfully I missed him and after about a minute or so I calm down when BAMM, a bird (or bat???) flies right into my helmet and there's guts and whatnot on the face shield. Needless to say the next 20 miles or so weren't that enjoyable and I'd never been so happy to see the interstate in my life. I really hope the dog makes it.

I was blazing down a road between farm fields in my car years ago with bugs just splattering off the car like so many raindrops. Really dense with bugs. All of a sudden there's a more solid impact; completely spread eagled on my windshield right in front of me is a bat. Looked like it could have been pinned out for display. Almost as fast the windstream peels him off and he's gone.

Sorry your day sucked. For me my bat encounter is just a funny memory.

I hope this isn't a repeat. A few of you will recognize this instantly.

I took these a few months ago when you failed to inform me they were closed that day.

Well, thanks for informing me of that. I've never tried to go on a Monday, so I didn't know until you posted that.

This was not worth the storm I had to brave to get here. Now I have to ride back through it.

So I took the northern route home tonight. Traffic was moving slow, it was windy as hell, and I could see the impending doom of a storm I was heading towards. All hell broke loose in Vass, and I had 9 miles of hail and sideways rain. I broke through it right about the time I linked up with 15/501 in Carthage. Right after I took that photo, a gust came and almost flipped my bike off the stand. I saw it lift off and dropped my phone trying to get a hand on the Husky to keep it from toppling.

Then, I had to double back into the storm to get home. I was heading south on NC22 by Little River when I saw a flash from my right. I started power braking just in time to see an orange safety cone flying onto the road about 5 feet in front of me. Needless to say, it took a few minutes to detach my asshole from the seat when I got home.

New tag!

P-U-N-T! This is for the mountain folks who are getting a taste of Spring. The best Pot Pies in NC, and a stone's throw away from last year's Nottarally site. The owner went to college with my sister, and she makes some mean pot pies. I recommend the Greek or the Thai. In fact, we're fresh out, so MrsDonkeys requests a delivery. Just grab the tag, buy some pies, and bring them both down to the Sandhills. ;)

I rode 400+ miles to rescue the tag from the coast, you didn't get any BBQ at Pik-N-Pig and you gave the tag back to the hillheathens. WTH???

Hosting an ADVer from near Wilson as we speak. I told him he should stop and pick the tag up tomorrow on his way home.
