Boy Scout camp is nearly a mile from my house as the crow flys but I wont be going after it as I am too busy this weekend.

For all the folks you know out there I thought you might show up at Kent Skoug's funeral. Nat and I rode to it in spite of some rain only because Kent would.

It was a nice service. A good number of riders. The rain wasn't too bad. I had dry spots in spite of wearing mesh gear. The room was filled.

I think this has sat long enough so if'n you want it, speak up and I'll stand down....otherwise tomorrow I have slack time and this thing is a good five minutes away I would make a nite grab but too many critters on that road and got some in my yard now. I'll keep it up here as its a good season for the hills..

Want it??? speak up!! Just don't want to spoil somebody's fun making a long haul for it.

Neat camp up there. I think they have some good mountain bike trails for the kids now I understand. You have kids or a troop that goes up there?

My son is a Life Scout working on his Eagle. He is in Troop 40. They go every other summer there.
I helped transport a load of scouts up this year.

One of my favorite hikes is to park about 200 yds past and through the camp on the right and then take the Art Leob Trail up the mountain to what I think is called Deep Gap and there the trail splits. To the right is the Art Leob which goes out through the Narrows and across Shinning Rock, Black Balsam, Silvermine Bald then drops into the Courthouse area and on into Davidson River. I like to go left in that gap and onto the top of Cold Mountain. Locals know an old Elk trail back along the ridges to the northwest and a spur off that comes out in my yard This Little East Fork Road has no outlet and I do not think its a good motorcycle road. It does have odd curves following the creek but lots of driveways into the curves, lots of gravel and the traffic coming out from the camp can be scary at times. I met two different vans this morning as they were coming out and they were both totally over the yellow in my lane and looking at the scenery I guess. One even over corrected on seeing me and almost ran in the ditch on their side trying to get back out of my lane....point is, if you go up here, go real slow new tag in a few....

New Tag

This is a photo of the back of a restaurant. You can take a photo of your bike anywhere you can park with any part of the BACK of the restaurant in the photo.

All photos by mtngal

This is a Tiki Bar in the mountains and it is a great place to go eat, get refreshments, and take your significant other if he or she is along. Here are more photos of the back side and clues for your research.

Here are shots from inside the Tiki Bar area and they have a nice restaurant as well

Find any clues in those photos? Ok, I'll make this easy

And this is the entrance you want and it does have gravel but pretty easy

Ok have fun and while you are in the area check out other eateries like Shoebooties and the Chop House and awesome roads straight north out of town like Joe Brown Highway, Hanging Dog, and for those of you with adventure in your blood, take Davis Creek off Hanging Dog which becomes gravel and takes you over the mountain into Green Cove, North River, Bald River and stay straight on through as it becomes paved and leads you to Tellico Plains Tn.

So from me and mtngal, bye and have fun!
