Oil Temp Gauge Calibration And Alignment

I calibrated and aligned my "Xr's Only" oil temp gauge...Thought I would share the steps I took.

First I removed the retaining spring from the top of the gauge.

Next I popped the gauge from it's housing...No force was necessary.

Here you can see all the components that make up the gauge.

I measured and scribed a upper fill mark in relation to the stock dip stick. 1-7/8" was appropriate. Notice the 11mm nut on the back of the temp gauge. I boiled water and set the gauge (using the nut to calibrate) to 212 degrees Fahrenheit.

Lastly it's time to align the annoying off centered and for some, upside down gauge. This is real easy since the gauge is still spinning freely in the housing. Tighten the housing nut, set the gauge to top dead center and scribe a line on the housing.

Now reassemble the gauge aligning it top dead center to the mark you made on the housing nut. It should be aligned properly for us picky guy's and calibrated too.
