New Hampshire's dirty little TOR

The time has come...there is more to riding than pavement

As with any game, there must be rules:

-The "Tag" is a picture of your bike in a setting/in front of something cool, that we must duplicate.

-Tag must be on dirt. Maintained dirt is OK if the spot is worth it, and it's a good road. Let's avoid just pulling off the pavement a few feet onto the start of some dirt just for the sake of dropping the tag.

-Tag should be in a legal spot. You don't need to research the local town hall (you can if you want), but let's avoid riding past the "No Tresspassing" sign and obvious blockades to private property.

-Tags requiring ORV Sticker to get to (beyond your typical Class VI town road) are OK, but a warning if possible. Realize these tags may slow the game down (they may also speed it up because of the interest in cool spots)

-Tags that are in very rugged locations OK, but maybe some general warnings about what to expect.

-All tags must be accompanied by GPS Lat/Lon Coordinates, or have adequate hints/visual clues as to be found via Google.

-Once you claim a tag, you have 48 hours to place the new one. Warning: Tag may be stolen from you after you post your claim of tag! Example: You "claim" a tag at 10am, and don't have a new one ready...I can come along after you at 11am and also "claim" the tag, then it comes down to which one of us can post a new tag location first. This will certainly make the techno side of this interesting

Nice. I like.
The stealing of tags should be an interesting twist.
Just to clarify: If I don't have a GPS, it is okay to just give good hints, correct?
(Don't forget to charge your cell phone. Only 44%. )

We need to be able to find it. There are many places where only GPS coordinates are gonna get it done. I don't care how you get us there really, as long as we get there

You can get a cheap or free GPS app on any smartphone these days...that's MotionX GPS on an old iPhone. Caches maps ahead of time and everything.

This one's not too far from me. Gonna try and get out of here early tomorrow and grab this. We'll see.

Haha... no. Damn FJR is accumulating miles too fast. Bought it last September and it has 6500 miles already.

I've still got the ManStrom, and ManStrom is strong like bull (and heavy like one too).

But you never know what other little tiddler might follow me home someday.

PS - Cool! I never even knew that reservoir was there. Bob is gonna be the ruination of me.

If you have a clean wr, you're doing it wrong.

That's my Bobnoxious thought of the day.

Old Tag

Babidge Reservoir

This was fun, primarily because I set my GPS to "The Shortest Distance". Three gates, somebody's yard and a farmyard. For the record, no I didn't go around the gates or terrorize any homeowners or farm animals

New Tag

Note, my bike is facing as if I were heading back out to the North East

The Sign:

Sorry about the glare. It says Pierre W Hoge Conservation Base. It's a BSA property that you can hike around a little if you're in that mood.

Coordinates: 43 04.972N x 72 22.703W

This is a Class VI road but if you approach from the NE, it's a little less gnarly. Nothing too horrible from the other end (that's the way I went out) but with the rain of the last couple days, it's a muddy uphill with enough, fist sized stones, to make it sporty.

The other reasons to come in from the NE are the nice dirt roads over there plus one of my favorite rides in the area, 123A.

It's a beautiful day for a ride!

There are a lot of OHRV trails around there, are they legal to ride with a sticker or are they part of a club trail system? If they'd let me ride them I'd be happy to help maintain them, for sure. I got on them by accident from a Class VI road over by Wellscroft Farm, so I was on it until I could find a way off it, and they seemed to be well maintained and marked. I'd love to explore them some more but not if it's gonna piss somebody off.
