Damn. I have the day off today and would love an excuse to take a rip through VT, but I haven't a clue where this is

Sorry for the delay - meant to get other pictures up and was kept from the computer. When it finally stopped raining, there was a lot to do.

The bridge near here has been gone for about 234 years, though there are still remnants of it on the bottom of Lake Champlain. Used to connect to Fort Ti in NY. The funky building is the museum there now.

Here's a link:

and another pic that I didn't send since it was without bike:

Interesting place, too bad it doesn't open 'til Memorial Day.

Mount Independence is open seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. from Memorial Day weekend through Columbus Day weekend.

You're absolutely right, and I apologize for any who wanted to check out the museum while they were there - it doesn't open until then. I'd forgotten as I like to ride up there just for the ride (and there is a short section of unpaved road, for any that don't like riding those). The parking lot and trails are open and ungated although they want you to pay admission to walk the trails where there had been a fort during the revolution. There's no gate or anything - there are private residences further down the road past the museum.

Considering some tags are just drive-bys or stone markers, I wasn't thinking too hard about making sure there was something to do when you got there, just about a decent ride and an interesting building. Again, apologies. I'd be glad to post another tag if there's a need.

No need to post another tag just because a museum isn't open for the season yet. If anyone wants to check it out once it opens, you've provided enough info for them to find it
