That's what I was asking about "ride through" vs. the twistiness of Route 8. Looks like a decent pile of snow at the gate, wonder if the trail is clear yet?

That pile was leftover from plowing. The trail beyond looked snow free but appears to be very soft still. In the shady spots up on the ridge I bet you would still come across some snow in pockets.

It's Sleepy Hollow Road (no longer a road, now officially a trail). If you're heading West on Route 9, it's a "shortcut" to Route 8 south. Lots of fun, but beware the washouts. Much of the road is still in good condition and it's easy to get lulled into a false sense of security, then you come around a corner and find a 2-3' deep by 3' to 8' wide washout in your line.

Trail is clear,,, no snow or ice... but there are a couple washouts that you will need to go through. No way around them anymore.

Also FYI..... Kelly Stand Rd is passable all the way through. It's not open and they are still working on it. Met up with a few workers, non of them flagged me down or said anything. If you do go through be careful,,, there is heavy equipment going up and down the road. And some patches of ice up top in the shady spots.

Nice. I was going to try check out Kelly Stand in the next couple of days. Good to hear they're making progress. Hopefully they aren't making it *too* nice of a road.

That lower section looks like it's going to be a freeway when they are done.

Too funny. On the windy day I took this shot as a possible tag . . .

Great news (except for the "freeway" part)! I almost checked it out last week when I was tagging but ran out of time. Glad somebody did.

I hope nobody thinks I am the current tag holder because I posted that file photo!
