Georgia, Armenia, Iran Info Needed
Hi Guys,
I'm planning a trip to theese 3 countries and wanted to know few things like: - is it safe to camp outside and if you have some suggestions regarding this? (I'm asking because in my last trip to russia and kazakhstan i've had some problems with the russian police...twice) - are there any motorcycle clubs in theese countries (in case I might need some help on the way; I must say I'm traveling alone)? - I couldn't understand if it is possible to pass directly from Armenia to Iran (without going into the Azerbaijan - Naxcivan) Many thanks!

many thanks morriswf!
I saw that thread but it is more a discussion about the visa & tours and I'm not particulary worried about the visa or interested in making an organized tour...I travel alone ![]() From my last trip I've learned few things like "safe camping" and "where to go if I have some bike problems" and this is why I asked the questions Thx, Belzebut

What time of year you planning on going?
Been to Iran a few times to work. It's nice but a guy on a bike is just waiting to get knocked over. They drive like crazy there.

The best people ever!
Hi,
Nice to hear you're going to Iran. I drove there this summer from Finland. And the people of Iran and Turkey are the friendliest and most hospitable people on earth. Trust me, you'll love it :) About camping outside: Iranians love camping. You'll see them everywhere with their little carpets and tea pots. So you'll have no problem at all. I was about 2 weeks in Iran and of that time 2 nights in a hotel (in Tabriz). The rest of the nights I slept in a tent somewhere in the wild. I never used a camping area, always searched for a nice place away from the road. Behind big fields, up on mountains, down in dried river bottoms. Just remember that if someone (living nearby) sees you setting a camp, they will most probably come and say hello to you :) That's why I had always a bit of extra dried nuts (excellent in Iran), grapes, etc, to offer for my guests :) So, camping in Iran and Turkey is the best. I also drove through Russia, but never camped outside there. Didn't feel like a good idea. Attached a photo from Iran, close to the Bazargan border. ![]() Photo from a random camp place. The road was about 2km away. ![]() Best, Niklas www.chef.fi/iran |
