ADV Tech School - October 4th 2008

New dates posted on page 8

Let's get dirty, let's have some fun, let's learn to push the envelope a bit, and let's learn some techniques for getting your D/S bike to perform like you and it should.

Who's interested?

Some basic topics: Balance, braking, control (body positioning and mechanics), ascents/descents (hill climbing), log crossings, water crossings, root control, hopping rocks, and whatever else I can throw in on a days outing.

Big bikes or small bikes are all welcome - I'll bring one of each. (but you can't ride mine )

I'll provide lunch at a reasonable cost - dogs/brats/burgers and soda pop. (marked up of course)

The cost for this is $150 per rider and I am NOT resposible for any damage/injury to you or your motorcycle.

Details and location to follow if interest is shown.

Riders should wear adequate body protection: shoulder, elbows, hips, and knee armour in addition to mandatory: helmet, good over the ankle boots (Off-Road boots prefered), gloves, eye protection and coverage for exposed skin - pants/long sleeve shirt.

Sounds interesting! And if it helps Springer and team, hell why not! Couple questions though (might not have the answers yet, but I'm curious to what you're thinkin'.):

* Who will be instructing?
* What is the student to instructor ratio you envision? (if any.)
* 1/2 day or full day event? Need to figure out how long I need to get a hall pass from "The Boss".
* Pickles for morning chow? Thanks Springer!

#1 ME, you'll be surprised!
#2 Don't know yet you are the first post. (15:1)
#3 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM (guess that's a whole day)
#4 Recommend you eat a hardy breakfast.

I have in mind a fun learning environment with a knowledgable background and sound instruction.

Very informal, very informal!!!

I'm new to dirt riding and am very interested in taking a course. I've been riding street bikes for many years, but need to learn how to ride my new Adventure. Count me in!

Oh yeah, I'll probably be camping overnight at where ever the selected location is, so I can prepare everything for Saturday.

That means anyone who needs to travel farther can drink some brews and talk some trash on Friday night.

Gee I hope the weather holds...

If the weather doesn't hold, I guess we get to play in the mud

What? There's no mud here, you'll just get dirtier.

If the weather is raining, that's good then we'd be trainin' not having fun playin' in the rain. (Helmets provide great precipitation protection )

Hey Russ,

I may be interested. I just need to check my schedule to see if I can forego my proposed Portland trip that weekend.

Thanks!

That weekend is no good for me. but I will work on seeing if I can change my plans. For those who don't know Russ he is a great rider. How many of you can make a GS fly? Also check out Russ's victory at MOA 2008 Nat. Rally

They'd be helpful but not required.

If anything we do is too challenging then don't do it. There are no requirements to crash and burn.
