Old riding bud has done OK!

This was sitting outside work yesterday, very tasty!![IMG][/IMG]
As the owner appeared, I recognized him as a guy I went to school with, and a guy that I kicked off my trailbike riding career with, there were a group of us, XL 2 and 350's,RT and DT Yammies and the odd, and I mean ODD, Honda MT Elsinores! Anyway, wouldn't have seen old matey for 30 odd years, they stayed trailriding, I got serious and went racing. This thing is awesome, he did the resto himself, I got a brief history of the bike and the marque in general, and I've been Googling a few things in regard.
Value? Lets just say WELL over $50k, then he dropped the bombshell that he has a rare specced example of a Black Shadow at home as well valued in excess of $100k Good on him, he had a real passion for it I could tell and thats all anyone can ask! I think its the same one who would'nt let me overtake him near Tumut early in the year. I did ovetake then he complained that I flicked up fine gravel on his bike

Me making friends again.

Awesome looking bike, and to think ol mate has two of them.

I remember years ago when living in Narrabri and used to race Pony Express. I went out to a riding buds farm and into the barn and there was an array of bikes including a Vincent Black Shadow with chair fully original in excellent condition just sitting ther doing nothing, sure would like to get my hands on it now.

And where is this guy's place?

I ask only as a Black Shadow is among my top five dream bikes of all time and well on the shopping list if ever I win lotto.

As for the HRD, damn nice.

IMO, no matter how much people claim that artistry exists in the modern motorcycle, they just cannot replicate the pure art in bikes of yesteryear.

A cousin of mine rebuilt a Vincent years ago. Got a lot of the bits from England. I bet he wishes he still had it
I remember being on the back of it doing 100mph

Him and his boss at the time used to race Vincent sidecars on the bitumen tracks. Were very competative back then. Even raced at the IoM.

Cous also had a Vincent 500 single he made into a trail bike.
