Thanks :)

Thanks for the comments about the bike :)
The bike had 13,500 miles on it when I bought it this past spring. It has about 16,500 on it now and I hope to put many many more on it.
I have a few airheads and this one has become my favorite.

oh umm.........how do I make a profile??? ( and please don't say ' turn sideways;))

Tht's pretty funny, right there.

So, go up near the top of the page and you'll see a row of clicks: Control Panel, Members, Calander, Pics, Jo Momma, etc.

Click on Control Panel.

Then there's a menu on the left side.

Click on "Edit Profile"

Then you can fill in a bunch of shit that lets us all know what kind of bikes you have and various stuff.

You don't have to fill out everything, but it's handy to know a bit about the folks you're talking to sometimes.

Again, welcome to ADV.

I notice you are running Moto sport panniers. I run the soft ones (1 set both bikes) on my Scrambler

and DR650 and I would like to see how they mount on the R80G/S. Are they off the shelf or did you buy the loops. It would be great to have a luggage system I could swap beteeen 3 bikes.

Heres my R80G/S a work in progress

Mounting

I bought the panniers used from a guy in Colorado and he sent me what he said were the mounting brackets. I have a feeling the brackets were meant for an R100GS though as the rear mounting point didn't line up with anything..... so I just took it off and have them mounted a little less securely. After a few trips with them heavily loaded I haven't had any issue.
if you send me your email address I'd be happy to send you a couple of pictures.

your WIP GS looks like it's gonna be a great bike!

Pete

I work a little with Bruce Davidson at Boxers by Bruce. Recently has an r80g/s come in for some work. It's a european model with a 7 digit VIN: 1815 produced in 04/87.

Definitely one of the last of the breed in the U.S.!

I have a 1982 European model GS VIN 6255867. We are trying to solve a mystery in another thread about 1982 GS bikes. Some evidence indicates there were 71 1982 GS bikes imported. The micapeak registry only shows 1 in Canada that was bought in boxes and reassembled. BTW my '82 shows up as being one of the last 11 '81 models built in Dec.'81 but titled as an '82.

I just realized I haven't posted a pic of mine. Here it is ready to be loaded in a container to be barged home.
