My town

I like the paralever conversion that some have done, I'm not saying its better, but I like it. Gives a modern look to a vintage (center shock). But I like the 800cc more than the 100's. I also heard they are a tad smoother. Anyway, I have her and she is mine.

I intend for her to look like that HPN one...in time. But my main thing is to keep using her. Once she is dead, beaten up and can not be ressurected, then she will become a family mantle piece, just need to find the mantle piece.

I live in Port Elizabeth, the friendly city, also known as the windy city. If you visit Cape Town, then Port Elizabeth you will agree that Cape Town is the windy city, cause Port Elizabeth (PE) does not have trees that grow horizontally. This, offcourse is in Sunny South Africa with its numerous troubles and govermental idiocricy and corruption. Eish One Time!!!

The one reason...two reasons I keep reminding myself of with the G/S (when I get thoughts again of selling her and getting a 1150 GS) is that I want to visit Russia and Ireland and and and, and part of that visit will include the other trip, traveling through Africa. And even though you could do it with a KTM 640 (if its new...and then fight started), I want a bike that is low maintenance and bluddy bullet proof. That, and that the 1150 GS does not handle like the G/S in really tight corners. So I survive, but I will get me an 1150 or 1200 in the future. Lots of things I would like to do, but first I have to pay for her. Then I can start cool stuff, so hope September comes around a little bit sooner this year.

There you go, if I was a celebrity I journalists would love me cause I give more than they ask, but hate me cause they only ask one question and I keep talking and talking and tal.....

Hey, were are you from?

New R80 G/S

Here's my latest find. A 1983 G/S. VIN 6362867 Lots of enhancements not all of which work. It's got a 1,000 cc kit with dual plugged heads but someone couldn't get the dual coils to work. Time for some study.

Low octane

I've got a total of about 30 miles on her. No opportunity to test the octane yet but she she runs very strong with premium.

It has a supertrapp pipe. On today's inagural ride I had the guts of the supertrap fall out - the retention screw must have vibrated loose. I hit the gas at about 60 - suddenly it got very loud. Thought I'd blown something in the motor so I gingerly rode home only to find a gaping hole in the tail.

My VIN: 6253046.

It was Herms bike, so scold him for not updating.

Oops! Just updated your bike's info!

We've had this '81 G/S for about four years, and it doesn't get ridden enough. Maybe once a month or so. Every now and then I think I'll put it on Ebay and get something more modern. But then I take her out of the shed, charge the battery, get her going and chug up the road............................................. and then I remember...............

Well Done Johnno . . . . . that looks like a nice one.

Did you sell the R100GS PD? I missed that.

Look forward to some pics. It sounds like it has all the good stuff done
