Hi there everybody.....
This is Svarth from Greece......

today I received my G/S, found her quite abused from previous owner (painted red with a spray...)
frame no is 6285631

lots of thing to do during winter....:) :)
the funny thing is that my bike has NO kickstart.....
reading in here lots of topic, I knew all G/s had a kickstart, but found out that mine has not....
I suppose she is euro spec. imported to Greece from somewhere in 1993'..
the clock says 36000 but....
any idea of the year built any maybe an idea why not a kickstart..??

is there a known site to check for year built by engine number...??
not aware how to input pics....but will do
take care

enjoy riding

my '85 didn't come with a kickstart. Not a big deal. The kickstarts don't work too well on these bikes anyways.

I've never seen in France or UK a G/S without kick start...
I presume that the gear box was changed and the bike had more miles (kilometers) than you expected ?

I dont know a single thing about the Beemers.....that's my very first..
All I know that it is the only BMW model I ever wanted...

maybe a changed gearbox.....???mmmm
I suspect the odo is 136000.....doesnt it zero itself at 99999..??

the bike has a whitepower suspension, new brake disk and new fork springs (I was said new...but all the above where changed a few years ago..)
she served her previous owner very well, not a single prob for many years....but he sprayed her red with the tank and clocks on the bike....

lots of things to do....

Very nice! Welcome!
It would be fantastic to see a report (with pics) of the riding in Turkey

I've had Jonnos bike for five weeks/6000 km.

Still have the R100GS , but I wont upset anyone by making comparisons.

I will need a set of tires soon - it has a 4" Metz Enduro 2 on the back and it has been rubbing on the spring on the WP so I dont want to fit any thing wider, and this restricts the choices here in Oz.

I do 70/30 riding , the 30 on unsealed roads, usually loose gravel, no grass , mud or sand unless I miscalculate------.

Avon no longer list the Gripster in Oz but they have the Distanza , AM 43/44 in 4.00 / 3.25 for around $200- less than Annekeys or Tourances= has anyone tried these on their GS?

There is a 310mm floating wave disk and twin pot Toxico caliper up front, and with Vesrah pads it has a bit of bite, to the extent that it needs a better fork brace or top triple clamp - anyone any recommendations .
