Is there enough "critical mass" to have a G/S specific get together?
it is the 30th anniversary of the breed, after all.

they are pretty scarce here in the east. however, I ran into GSPDPete the other day

Hmmmm, I'm in the mid-atlantic, so something like the "Festival of Fives" held in Seneca Rocks, WV is of interest. I suppose if there were any chance of having a seriously inclusive celebration, some place like Colorado would be better.

It would be pretty impressive to have 50 or so G/S's turn up at the same place and time... heck the Africa Twin guys are doing it... (smaller numbers, but even so!)

Time to stop procrastinating/ lurking,
I have 2459 since '93, mods are: PD tank, 1000cc kit, dual disc up front, oil cooler, seat, 5th and 1st, endurolast alternator, works rear shock. 100K + miles on it, flatbars, flipped the rear brake, raised handlebars.

I also bought 2711 last year for the parts for $1300. It had the cafe treatment done to it. I have been following threads where people have been bracing the frames like HPN does. For now it is stored away until I decide what to do with it and have the time.

2711 can't seem to figure out how to add more than one picture at a time.

Welcome AGS.... I really wanted to pick up 2711 myself.... have to admit that I am still kicking myself about not jumping on it!

Might as well throw down:

Daisy's currently loaded and ready for 11 weeks and 10,000 miles beginning this Saturday.

Wooot, would be an understatement.

Why Woot? 10,000 miles won't even get you to the other end of Montana!

Spring 2011? Wasn't the first model an 81? Does anyone know when first G/S hit US shores?

Ok, it looks like first release was Avignon in Sep 1980. Awful short notice, I'll be gone part of Sep...

My G/S...

I'd love to show you mine but despite reducing the file size I can't attach a photo. Help?

Steve.

I don't believe you can directly upload images to ADV anymore. Instead, you have to put your photo up on the web via a photo hosting site (smugmug, flickr, etc.), and then past the URL into your ADV post (picture icon on tool bar).

Does that help?
