Man! Some beauty bike, and beauty backgrounds, too.

I wonder how many G/Ss we have in here ... seems like the thread is growing pretty quick.

Here's my friend Al's low serial '81...2113

Al bought the bike new, and ordered it with a Heinrich gas tank that matches mine!

If I understand Solo's numbers, there were only 1329 sold/imported to US? I thought the number was much larger - am I missing something?

If that is correct, and we have say, 20 US bikes, then that's about 1.5% of US G/S's on ADV.

We need a rally

Does that include us R80ST owners, they are even rarer than the G/S

Well, my numbers are suspect, check the links at the bottom of post one... there seems to be more produced for the US then the numbers I have posted.... I have no clue what the right numbers would be....

data source

The following link is a great source of data. Scroll down to the 'R80 G/S' rows for details. Based on that page, a 1987 R80G/S would be a very, very rare find !

I bought it in August '08 with 16,000 original miles. Previous owner had it since early '90s and bought it in South Carolina.

edit: update!

Sorry Kev. You'll have to be "Billy no Mates" untill somebody comes up with an ST register. Buy Solo a beer when he's in London next month and I'm sure he'll let you post

Prior to me it lived in CO, NM, and possibly AZ.

Truly a contender for the if-i-could-only-have-one-bike title.

Any Chance?

I've been enjoying this thread - great to see these older machines and the tracking of their serial numbers. Has everyone ever thought of doing this for the R100GS and the PD, or are there too many out there to do this? I'd love to see where the sisters to my machine are ('94 R100GS). Jackd
