Last 4 from VIN: 2716

Does that really mean I have bike #716 that was made that year?

I bought it from a guy in Anchorage, AK who was allegedly the only prior owner (his wife-to-be bought it).

I finally bit the bug for a dual sport bike and got a 1981 G/S last fall. Been having lots of fun!

At least three owners, I think sold in the PNW, VIN# 2359.

No picture, its all covered in dirt and scratches and not pretty like all the other pictures

I've got a 1981 R80G/S. I'm the 5th owner. Purchased new by a local auto mechanic. Sold to somebody in Tucson. Then supposedly went to a BMW mechanic in the Denver area. Then sold to a guy who lived in Silverthorn CO who advertised it for sale on IBMWR. That's where I saw it and bought it back in 1999. When the local mechanic, original owner saw it he recognized it as his. To prove it he produced the original bill of sale w/ right VIN number. Small world, eh? That's where we tied the rest of the bikes ownership history together.

Maybe I'll get unlazy and get a picture up here one day. I've added a PD tank, works shock, Jesse bags, Rick Meyer saddle (guaranteed no less comfortable than stock). Been through 2 transmission. Near as I can tell it's got 160K miles on it. I've ridden from the tip of Baja to Prudoe Bay AK.

...#2363 is now in my care.

160K! I wondered, runs like a top though (thanks Ted Porter! His shop did the heads in 10/2010). If 160K is correct, it's now up to 176K. I purchased from the guy (Les) that Charlie sold to, that makes me owner #7. Thanks to Les and Charlie, I have the paperwork from 5 of the previous 6 owners. The seat is now a solo seat w/ rear rack from BoxxerParts.
