Heres one G/S, its third G/S in the family. We have had about fifteen to twnty 2V boxers. At the moment this and R75/5.

To even mix it up further, other countries don't follow model years like the US follow models years.
The US has specific years relating to the EPA and the certification of the model year.

And there was a time in the not so distant past when model years kind of blended together..

Looks like there will be another bike added to the register soon... Just picked up a 1981 r80 G/s for my father... soon to be shipped to him in Nova Scotia. I'll post up a photo later when I have my camera. Number 2150. He'll probably be along sometime in the near future to identify himself as the proud new owner. Now I must make sure it drives okay before it gets crated up

Some forgotten info... first sold in Germany, exported to the UK in 1983... exporting to Nova Scotia in the next few months. Engine rebuilt, maxton rear shock, everything that can be has been recently powdercoated so not a spot of rust anywhere. The last new speedo from BMW fitted with 2000 miles now on it. New wiring loom, brakes, gearbox rebuilt, carbs rebuilt, new rims/spokes etc etc the list goes on. It's like driving a new bike in old clothes.

I have one of each mirror type. The plastic ones are better. The metal ones seem to seize up much more easily.

Anyone know how I can find out the build date of my G/S?

I need to order parts, and max's fiche has up to 9/81, and after 9/81 for the front brake master cylinder. (And other parts)
