I think we have evidence that G/S riders hang out at ADVRider!
We have ~138 listed on this registry (since 2008) where the original Micapeak R80G/S registry that has been around for many more years has 169 total!

I have one!
1981 (I think), Vin 3826
I'll get a pic. Its very tired, front hub needs help...or a spacer is missing, bearing collapsed or something. It has a headlight & clocks off some other BM...and, it doesn't start (hasn't since I bought it). Lights etc all go but it just doesn't even turn over...starter motor maybe? Anyway, its a project...in 2 minds as to which way to go, either a resto or go a bit silly on a PD replica. Oh, In Melbourne Australia. |

Hi MNrider,
You have the second oldest G/S on the registry... and it was the 82 one built for the US market in the first year of production, pretty cool! Is that an ST front wheel? it deosn't look to be 21"

Sometimes I really miss mine (see post #539 on pg. 36 of this thread). Hell, sometimes? Jeez! Great bikes. I still like to check in on this thread and look at the photos of everybody's bikes. I go to a lot of the rallys in the southwest in the summer and there's always one or two R80G/S bikes in the lineup. The airhead bikes are getting to be a real minority at the rallys but the G/S always draws a lot of attention, whether a beater (yeah man, that guy really uses this thing!) or a museum piece (Whoa man, that's beautiful). When I started going to rallys there were damn few oilhead bikes

Two of a kind
Parked in Rossland BC, when a guy comes up and starts looking my G/S over really carefully. Turned out he had one of his own.......I think his is an '83, mine's an '85.
