Sorry, thats all I know.

A lot of that gear can be sourced here, our bike shop owner/sponsor who races in the safari, will put you on the right path for getting the stuff. Contact Rod at Centertune motorcycles in Longreach QLD.

Rod's bike.

In the Flea Market

I have to sell my 450F as pictured here. Just won't be able to ride it. Bars and tank are new......... . If only it could run 300 km of tar to get me to the trails from where I have to work this year !

My First Ride

Gday fellow Yamaha owners. This is my first ever bike. It is a WR450 '08. Still very stock apart from some high rise bars. I found it hard to sort out what bars to fit as there was no specs given by pro taper on the bend of the original bars, and being 193cm tall I needed to come up a fair way. Thanks to forums I found they are the same specs as a YZ LO bar. Looking at fitting a larger tank to do some longer distances, but have not got there yet.

Cant upload photos.

Heya Flip welcome mate, hell of a first bike too! You need to host photos on a site such as SmugMug or Flickr and then paste there url into the space provided when you click on the mountaina and sun icon in the new post window... I fitted an Ascerbis 15L tank to mine and you hardly notice the difference from stock until you realize that you would of run out of fuel about 80k's ago... haha

My Wr450 2008

Here is a pic of my Wr cutting in some single track in the pines near home.
Goes like the clappers, nice and light, easy to ride, and got electric leg, still miss the comfort of my XR600 but this thing is awesome.

purchased with :
GYTR- rear guard
GYTR- Bash plate
White Bros pipe/headers(great note)
Std Barkbusters
enduro headlight
race kit fitted (no Blinkers, controls etc, just start/kill )
air box modded
all the ADR crap removed.

Additions so far: bar risers, fender bag, fold down mirrors custom dash, heated hand grips, 12v outlet original key, blinkers/lights/switches headlight, back on,(less attractive to Mr Plod)
safari bum tank for long rides, spare leavers, chain breaker, towstrap mounted under seat.

jobs in progress:
more padding to seat-today!!!
small rear rack, pannier bags/mounts
G.P.S mount on dash
rad guards (force??)
extend 'wings' on bashplate
small front screen (removable)
disc guard
new barkbusters
suspension mods/setup
steering damper.

setting up for mainly day rides/single track but with the quick bolt on rack/tank for overnight up to 3 day ride.
Will add more pic's soon

cheers.

Watagans vid

A bit of video just add movement. A ride in the Watagans a few weeks back with a TE250 Husky and KLX. and of course the WR450. Can't tell you how much I'm enjoying this bike.

Al on the KLX is 65 and doesn't shirk a track. Inspiration to me at least

Go LED. Bulbs will drive you mad - melting plastic bulb holders and failing from vibration.

I been sorting mine out for the Yilgarn Rallye, MD road book and ICO should arrive tomorrow.

Not quite "Dakartech" but it looks pretty sweet to me.

I finally got the wr250 registered today and then took it for a quick ride on the road.

What a little rocket, I had it at 130 and it was still pulling like it was at 80.(started getting the wobbles so i backed off)
I'm very impressed with the power of this little bike.

$3500 well spent.

ooh, please tell me more about that number board.

does it act like a little screen?

I find that if i stand (im 1.9 something) the i end up parashooting and it almost seems like i want to blow off the bike. something like that could certainly help for windblast?

Its a screen of an XTZ 660 Tenere, painted white. Sitting down at 100 km + it creates a little bufferting around the head, but standing on the pegs it takes away the wind from the chest so I don't have to hang onto the bars so much.
I've also changed the angle of the headlight mask to a more verticle position to fit the road book in.
