Who Wants to Ride Blakey's Ridge this Sunday?

I'm going to have some time Sunday, starting at noon, to go riding, and it's been way too long since I rode Blakey's Ridge in Madison, and I won't do it alone again, so who wants to join me?

J.R.

I rode through there early summer on the 450 and it was great. Now would be an opportune time to ride up to Rapidan Camp and ride around the yellow pole and ride up to the Drive.
(Not suggesting that you do anything illegal)
I'd go, but I have some horse hooves to trim tomorrow.

Anyone else that wants a beautiful, kind of challenging trail ride should join us as well.

I'll be there on an orange and black KLR.

SRG and I rode Blakeys Ridge then circled back to Pig n Steak in Madison. It was quite bumpy and very dry up on the mountain, and a little hotter than we wanted it to be, but otherwise a really nice ride. Thanks for coming out.

You sure had a nice day for it. Beeped my horn at you & waved as I went by Wolftown; wish I could have joined you two, but I was headed over to the other side of the mountain for some tire changing fun.

On a side note, I hope to see some of you local folks at Bloochdog's campout this coming weekend. It's taking place at his cabin which is right on the South Fork of the Shenandoah river just north of Elkton; this is just a hop, skip and half a jump for us around the C'ville area. If you're not familiar with the BWDR folk, check out their thread HERE, and the campout thread HERE. It's a great group of people coming from all over the place (VA, MD, PA, DE, etc...). All are welcome.

I've got work commitments this weekend which will prevent me from heading out until mid-day on Saturday so I'll miss going out on rides with folks, but there's no way I'm missing the Saturday night festivities!

After being in the GW all weekend for the S500 I realized I don't know why we don't go there more often.

The Mrs. has her family reunion on Sunday in Madison County. Coming up early on Saturday and bringing the 450 with me. Anybody interested in either a Saturday afternoon, or early Sunday (reunion is at noon) blast up Blakey Ridge? Haven't ridden up there in a few years and wouldn't mind some company. Curious to see what Stove Pipe looks like now. Going to be staying about 2 miles from the Sheetz on 29, at Granny G's house.

Cheers Ken

You have my attention. Went to the thread but info was vague at best. Any detailed info would be greatly appreciated. Would be an awesome follow up ride to the Shen 500.

Just another ADV gathering. Most people arrive some time on Friday and leave on Sunday. There's plenty of space to pitch a tent. There may be food being provided on either Friday or Saturday, I'm not sure; I'll look into it and report back. Either way, there's a Food Lion 10 minutes away and there will be a grill and other cooking apparatus you can use on the premises. If you prefer there's also a few restaurant options in the town of Elkton about 10 minutes away; El Paso is a fantastic Mexican place, but there are other options too. It's BYOB primarily, but there's always plenty of folks who are generous and share whatever goodies they've brought with them. Then during the day on Friday & Saturday there are usually several different group rides headed out; some rides may be the hardcore dirt folks, others may be more into the Forest Service roads type of ride, and there may be some who will stick mostly to pavement. Meet some folks, figure out who you want to go riding with, and go!

Then there's always a fun party on Friday & Saturday nights. Different type of refreshing adult beverages will be consumed, lots of laughs will be had, a few tall tales may be told............all in all a good time. Oh yeah, and a bonfire on one of those nights.
