There's a often a nice Tiger. There used to be a white airhead, but haven't seen it in a while. Typical sport bike or two, and the other day there was a very cool rat bike.

I should ride more often. I just hate the highway section and the alternative (250) isn't much better. I wish there was a way to cross the BRP (legally ) other than Afton...

Yup I've noticed those bikes in there too. When going to the mall I park on that little corner by the Water street lot. It's free and there's a guy right there sitting in his booth for the parking lot.

I've parked in the Market St. garage many times, since it's free. Interesting bikes there regularly: a Tiger with the color-coded cases; and old BMW; a Buell, a few other regulars.

Great place to park your bike, out of the weather and right next to the police station. I've never had problems there.

You can also park free at the Water St. lot adjacent to the other parking garage. It's outside, tho'.

Free bike parking downtown, can't beat it.

Cool, I didn't realize the front of the garage was free for bikes, I'll have to park there from now on when in town. Don't want to spoil my bikes too much though with a garage, they might not want to go home.

No joke... with $4/gal gas I started wondering if owners would change their mind about free parking for bikes when that area filled up (which it did for a while). But mostly it's a couple of regulars... Anyway, yes it's a great (and convenient) deal.

Shooo, I'd park in the planters or hedges if they'd let me. T-Dub doesn't mind

i agree! I had no idea those spots were free, and i often see the bikes there. on another note: anyone going to this new "bike night" I've been seeing on craigslist? It's wednedays at 7pm at wildwings cafe on main st (amtrak). Looks to be mostly sportbikes, though i haven't gone yet. Thought i might check it out tonight or next week, and some DS/adv backup would be nice!

How was it? Anyone show up? I'll come by next week if it's not pouring rain.

Place to ride

Hey guys,

My bro-in-law is coming to town for all of next week. I he's bringing two bikes with him: crf450 and superhawk. The SH is in process of being rebuilt and I'm going to help with that. The CRF is in process of a motard conversion, though he will have both sets of tires. He really wants to go hit some dirt while he's here since his hometown (detroit) doesn't offer much in the way of off road.

I ride a ZR7s, so we'll only have one dirt bike. We were thinking it would be good to find a place where there's some fun stuff in a tight area so we can take turns and still watch each other for safety. You guys have any suggestions for places or other ideas?

Check out the map in my sig line for a bunch of "dirt" spots - some are state roads but others are more interesting. There are a bunch of nice trails down near Montebello and Crabtree Falls. Jarmans Gap Rd is just outside Crozet but not very technical. PM Hppyfngy - he knows of some great spots

I don't know many off-road loops but I know a lot of back roads south and west of here. I've also been hosting a Honda Hawk rally every June out of Natural Bridge for the past several years and I have a great loop set up through that area, if you're looking for an all-day street ride with a lot of twisties.
