which bike?

veterans of the area please weigh in on this: Suzuki DR650 or R1200GS for this event? its 2 400 mile days for me to get there... i "could" do it on the suzi, but....

the GS is as off road oriented as a GS can be, me thinks.

you'll want the gs for the trip to BV & the DR in BV.
find a group to trailer with.

with that said the GS will get you most places, but you'll be working harder than most.

You'll be limited where you can ride with the GS: http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=384845

I've ridden both in that area. No matter which one you choose, there is plenty of riding for either.

schofield pass

That day there were GS1200s, KLRs, F650, DR on the pass. Probably one of the more difficult passes in the area and not big dual sport friendly, but doable.

I wouldn't miss this for the world. Don't mind when you see me if I'm sorta a green color. Altitude hits this old flatlander like Thor's hammer, but it's worth it to see friends at BV.

I'll also have maps made up. I'm thinking freebie souvenir
maps, for those that are interested.

Thanks Tim!

The Arrowhead was a great venue for this last time. The riding in that area is fantastic. Looking forward to it!
