This morning I voted, then decided to go for a nice ride. The weather was perfect, 80 and clear, with a light breeze.
I rode down to Bullhead City, AZ. It's a long, straight road down there from Las Vegas. Then I jumped onto Route 66 and rolled east towards Oatman. For those that don't know, Oatman is a small town that looks as if time stopped about 70 years ago (or more). It's a small mining town that is nestled away in some mountains east of the Colorado river that splits Nevada and Arizona. The road up to it is covered in "tar snakes". I've never seen so many used in my life. Once you're out of town (which is maybe 100 yards long, tops), it turns into a crazy switchback filled road for about 15 miles to cross over the mountains. I didn't see any speed over 40mph during that section. It's an incredible road. The rest of the ride was pretty boring, going from Kingman, AZ, to Las Vegas. Of course, you cross over the new bridge instead of riding over the Hoover Dam, which saves a LOT of time. Total mileage was 265 miles in 5 hours. Although it's quite early, I'm getting "ready" for my Pacific Coast Highway ride next May. It was a great day on the MegaMoto.

May is a long way- AWAY...!
Justin,
Bring your bike out to Santa Barbara / Central Coast... I have some great Megamoto 200 mile day rides here with fast backroads and twisties... Rent or borrow a trailer though, I couldn't hang with the 6 hour straight road riding to get out here on a MM. PMed you my number. |

From a few weeks ago. Getting the (stock) suspension settings to be tolerable. I'd referenced some older posts here which helped immensely. I still have to drop the forks through the triples to get more weight on the front but it feels so much better already. I have a feeling a winter fork rework may be in order as the cold is coming in quick here but the heated grips help.
BTW, for those needing to put their bike up for the winter, the tech at the dealer said to add fuel injector cleaner (Techron) to the fuel and help avoid the fuel pump issue some of us have tolerated here.

Hi Hankgs,
I got a black top in return when I asked Osenstetter to make a Motorsport saddle for me. But Osenstetter is no more in business now. http://www.osenstetter.de/ Buying a spare HP2E saddle, I could ask somebody to do the job. What material have you ?

GSMarc, mine is all stock, but worn. I was going to take it for recovering and it is as much as a new seat -about $400. Just wondering what your cover ran $ wise...
Bedankt! |

HankGS,
My saddle has been done with original BMW material, not a copy. For doing 1 black top + HP2 logo, I must find 2 good saddles : 1 of MM (for the black top); 1 of HP2E (for the sides). Doing the job is not so expensive and sending just the liner to you should not be so expensive (you find somebody to refix it in USA). But the price of the 2 saddles in input is the problem ![]() I like my saddle because I think it is UNIQUE, but not cheap. If you can send 2 original liners (MM + HP2E) in good condition to your familly in Holland, I can receipt them and ask my friend to do the job and send back the liners to Holland. By the way, I'm french speaking, geen nederlands :-)
