Maps

Finally! It's only been what, 8 months since I finished the trip?, but here is a map of the route as requested by...someone who requested it.

I have to warn you, I have been using only the newest technology for this and it may throw you with its unparalleled quality. I have been using new-fangled whatsits that are technically only available to the military and I'm not really supposed to share, but here goes...

Step 1: Open road map of area in question
Step 2: Turn on camera
Step 3: Switch camera to macro mode
Step 4: Ensure correct part of map is in view finder
Step 5: Press trigger

This is TOP SECRET stuff! Don't tell anyone. Here goes with the first few pics. Err, I mean maps...

Mac! How are ya bud? Good to hear from you. So, are you going to make D2D this year or not? Andy, Andrea and Brian will be there. Dave might, but I won't be (so there's probably not much point in anyone else making the effort....)

Having partaken in D2D and made it back to Whitehorse I spent a few days letting my liver recover and did a day trip of this route. It's well worth it.

And then, when I finally left Whitehorse for good, I went here:

I rather wish now that I hadn't been in such a hurry to get to Squamish and that I'd taken more time to look at a map over that period - as I can see now, there are sections of that journey that I could have done off highway, and I would have preferred to do so. Next time!

And there you have it. Hope that helps clear things up a tad.

I would love to do D2D again, but the new SO wants to show me Yellowstone, Cody, the Tetons, Bryce, and a bunch of other stuff in our National Parks System that I have not seen. For those going, have a great time(I know you will).

I hadn't thought of that, bu you're right! And the idea was inspired by Vodka, no less! (Not really, but what's the difference?!)

Actually, I'm pretty sure I won't be there this year...

Ben thanks for the maps. If you ever find yourself in the Quesnel BC area again, do yourself a favor and take a day trip to Barkerville. The road in is a twisty paved mountain road and the town itself is a restored gold rush town. A few years back some friends and I did a quad trip over the mountain from Barkerville to Likely on the original gold rush wagon road. The whole trip I was wishing I was on my DS! It is amazing country with history everywhere.

Fantastic report.

Just read through it for a second time, gearing up for my own Dempster excursion with my Dad at the end of June. Thanks for taking the time to create such a thorough writeup. If your goal was to contribute something to this site, you undoubtedly accomplished it.

Always good to see another '05 KLR doing what it's supposed to be doing!

Take care,

Travis

Another interesting RR, loved it, especially because I wanted to go back to my country (now in Holland) but really only lived there tillmy 12 year and 1 or 2 times back. You really gave an outstanding foto impression! Still thinking of giving up everything(whatever that is...) and going there startin anew. Oh well, who knowes?

Really well done.

ps. next time some videos?
