Barnyard, sorry to hear about that. I hope you are feeling less sore tomorrow.

I just finished reassembling my bike. I replaced the rear rotor. Rebuilt the rear caliper. Flushed front and rear brake fluid. At 80k+ I can't complain much.

Sadly, it will be at least Saturday afternoon before I get to take the bike out...

I'm going over to Belle Plaine to pick a centerstand for the CB-X tomorrow. The bike sort of needs one...there's a shortage of hard points to slip some kind prop under like I do with the DRs.

I want to co-mingle my two hobbies, shooting guns and riding. No, I don't want to shoot WHILE riding. Is it safe to assume a properly cased and unloaded rifle strapped to my person while driving a motorcycle is legal in Minnesota (the place where absolutely nothing is allowed)? I would imagine i would garner some looks from soccer moms in minivans... but will the police take offense?

No I don't think so. I've done it a couple of times going over into Wisconsin to shoot with some friends on some land that ones dad owns.

The Hillbilly Dual Sport Ride has headquarter out of the Travelers Inn, 2044 E Van Buren (hyway 62) Eureka Springs Arkansas, 479 363 6664 or If no answer call 478 253 5600 this # is another motel they own. They are reasonably priced, did a major remodeling job they off season, they have a nice (or at lease they use to) fire pit and are use to catering to motorcycles.

Personally, when I go off season or during the week I call downtown hotels and try to negotiate a reasonable rate. I like being downtown so walk to any restaurant or bar. If I can't get a downtown hotel I call Best Western Inn of the Ozarks. It is not downtown but still close enough to walk. It is more expensive then further out but, as I said, I like walking to the downtown places.

If you like history I highly recommend going to the Pea Ridge National Battlefield. http://www.nps.gov/peri/index.htm It is an extremely important battle in the War Of Northern Aggression that most people know little about because it is in the West. The battlefield is less than 30 miles from Eureka Springs.

I'm not sure what bike you ride but there are some great dual sport routes all over the area. You can't go wrong on any of them even if you hit a dead end. The road looks different coming out.

Nice!

I see there is a Sturgis type rally there at the end of September every year.

Looks like fun! May need to go there in September instead..

Ran into Scott today at Bob's in St. Paul. I got the red SV insured and took it for a spin.

Oh yeah, I ran across a nOOb on a new ninja 250 today that got into an accident by Shakopee. He panic braked when the traffic slowed and did a low side and crashed his new bike. Helped him get his shit together and repair the bent shift lever so he could make it home.

Security Allen wrench?

Anyone have some of these? I need to remove my helmet guardian, which I think has a 4mm, but it has the little peg in the middle and my plain old allen wrenches don't work. Do they sell these at the usual tool places?

Thumbs up to Marty Mataya for truing up my front pretzel rim. New TKC's are running sweet after a break in ride today through Carlos Avery and beyond. It's like a totally different bike from running the Anakee's (why did I do that again ???) A little greasy getting on the gas in the corners but very predictable. First power slide on tarmac I've done in years was good fun. Even if unplanned, the wife was "impressed". I'm not too old for that am I ?
Gomoto definitely deserves our patronage. I'm not in the market for a Royal Enfield but the man does a good turn around at a very reasonable rate. 10/10 would trust him to make it good anytime.

I think I got one, looks lie a 4mm. Checked and it's a 5/32 security allen should be really, really close.

Canon Powershot SX40 HS. It has an extreme amount of zoom, but what impresses me is the image stabilization. I was shaking a lot when I took that (I was holding the camera by hand) and the camera still pulled out a fairly crisp image.

Will you be getting to my side of town anytime soon? Want to sign my latest garage art? Share some FJR wisdom?
