Hmmm. It could just be me...

When viewing ADV using the "ADVrider 2.0" theme, lot's of the usual buttons appear to be missing--"Log In" being one of them. ![]() Tried a couple of different browsers (same computer though). Thankfully, after a little blank-eyed staring and head scratching, I changed to another theme and voila! [/delurk] In other news, "Paging Mr. Waste. Mr. M. Waste, please pick up the blue phone." I'm picking up one of these: ![]() and I'm soliciting informed opinions about things like a GPS mount, and tank/tail bags or a dry bag or milk crates!

It is the one in the pic
The bike in the pic is the one. It's a 2001 that was taken in on trade at a car dealership, though not in MN.
I use a RAM mount on my other bike, and it works well. Just curious if there is a specific base for the cross-bar on the handle bars or the like. The oil change does seem a bit over complicated: http://faq.f650.com/GSFAQs/GS_Oil_Change_FAQ.htm but I was aware of that. I've been looking for something like this, low miles, reasonable price, for a while. Missed out on a few...you snooze, you looze. (I'm a loozer, cause I didn't spell 'lose' correctly...) Last year, when riding in CO and UT, and maybe SD and WY too, there were a few roads, dual track, ranch roads or just longer unpaved roads, that I wanted to check out, but didn't want to do it on my RT. (Except for that one, long dirt road in the Black Hills. You know, the one that I let Google Maps pick without fully checking out before committing to it. ) Awsome scenery, and virtually deserted (it wasn't in August!). It was kinda dry out there though, and dusty. And a little squirrely at times. Fun, just couldv'e been funner on a different bike.In CO, I rented a GSA, but um, errr, it's a little on the, how does one say it, portly side--especially when riding two up with those mega aluminum cases full of stuff and a 8+ gallons in the tank. When moving, it was awesome. ![]() Cottonwood Pass Panorama Two by mnTwin, on Flickr When stopped, it was quite a handful at times. Like here: ![]() P1050072 (Large) by mnTwin, on Flickr Then following the world's slowest pilot truck on the chunk of road they were tearing up, just after the water truck had gone through. The GSA didn't like going that slow! Got to check out that suspension though. Oh well, didn't mean for this to turn into a ride report. Now, I'm just whiling away the time until I can go get the 650. |

I just did one on a 2007 last night and it made a KTM oil change seem quite sensible. When was the last time you have to remove the left front turn signal in order to perform an oil change?
Again, .

Hey it's not my fault yer a bit slow with the spanners.
I was just trying to think of another bike with a complex oil change, but couldn't come up with one to reinforce anything I said. Oh well, I don't really like letting the facts get in the way of things anyway. I hope Mn Twin enjoys his new bike though.

Truthfully, I washed my hands of the whole matter after I figured out what level of BS was involved. Happily, there was a real-live, trained motorcycle mechanic at the shop, so I just asked hime what he'd charge for an oil change at his shop. He quoted a price, and I asked if he was willing to do it for that price in my shop with my tools. He shrugged and said yes. So, while he was wrenching I concentrated on the more important tasks of pointing, laughing and drinking Summit EPA. (Not necessarily in that order.)
![]() I do too, and don't at all mean to dis his choice of machines.

I now want Summit ELA.
On that, I had some beer called New Albion Ale last week, which is something to do with Sam Adams or something. Anyway, I liked it, and don't give a shit what anyone thinks about it. So there.

Beer Me...
Allow me to recommend Lagunitas' "Lil' Sumpin' Sumpin' Ale." If you fancy a Furious or a Two Hearted, you owe it to yourself to check it out. It is world class. Carry on, Gents.
