Good to hear the roads are good enough for the KLR! I almost bought one of them (2012 model) but went with the Versys for more highway riding.

I saw a lot off ice on my way from Blaine to Golden Valley today. A lot of sand/salt once I got off HWY100 on Gleenwood Ave when you have to do some heavy braking

I did ordered new gloves, boots, and over pants today for $350 I cant wait for the new gear! Just in time for my MSF course in a week and a half

Good choice. The KLR is, well, a KLR. Spikehead will take great delight in telling you how especially ugly my one is. Which is true. It's lobster bisque coloured for a start. Damn Texas sun.

Thinking about it, don't rush out on the roads. Yer MSF class is not far off, I'd get that under yer belt before you venture out. You've got all riding season to enjoy yet, give the grit and salt a chance to get cleaned off. There are plenty of ice patches around to catch you out, I'd hate for you to slide your new bike, that would suck mightily.

Thanks for the advice and I'll probably do just so. I don't want to possibly dump a new bike just to go out a week earlier in the season. I'm only 23 and have the rest of my life to ride!

The KLR as ugly as it is caught my eye for some reason. I loved the setup and ergonomics but needed a 6th gear for my needs. If I were to just leave it up in Park Rapids then it would be great up there.

Maybe I saved myself from buying "the ugly" much like thinking "why did date that girl, she was ugly" haha

They're quite a good bike, but I'd get a DR650 if I was doing it again. Maybe I'll get one of them as well.

Yes indeed. It seems there may be rain at the weekend, but I don't think it will be the road washing rain we need.

Is yer bike back together?

There seems to be a lot of standards set by that DR650. I respect that but it just doesn't appeal to me.

I wouldn't mind renting a WR250SM or WR450SM and wringing its neck out! Would be cool to have a WR450SM with a swap out of rims wrapped with knobby tires ready to go.

I guess a man can never have enough bikes as long as he as a reason(excuse) to buy them ha

There is no upper limit on the amount of motorcycles one may own.

My bank manager doesn't agree, but what the hell does he know about it anyway?

Doesn't matter what it is, as long as you are slightly annoyed.
