I'd hate to see this thread disappear

Hi all,

I'm the proud new daddy of a '96 Tenere (660) so finding a thread such as this is great. We must keep it going.

Anyway, in an attempt to keep breathingh life into it I have a couple of questions that fellwo riders may be able to help me with....

1. I'm trying to install barkbusters and so far have only managed to get the left hand one on due to some issues on the other side. One thing is that the brake fluid reservoi seems to get in the way of being able to effectively fit the mounting assembly of the rigth hand BB. The other thing is that after removign the counter weight from the end of the grip I am faced with a threaded hole where the weight was screwed into and what seems to be a solid plug.

2. Am I able to safely remove this plug without screwing up the throttle assembly???

3. Patrick....what sort of electronic display are you going to fit???

BTW, that white Tenere is stunning......

Thanks all

Cooky

if you make sure your throttle assembly keeps turning freely, I dont think thats a problem, I have a set of acerbis handguard and they dont interfere..
maybe fitting a remote brake resevoire w/could work?

Patrick/ Cookey,
I've got a 43F XT600 & I'm fitting a 34L Tenere tank / seat,and also a trailtech Vapour dash.
Here's a link to the UK distributors webpage;
http://www.trailtechproducts.co.uk/a...r_Stealth.html
I'm also fitting the dash that has plug-ins for "idiot lights"
http://www.trailtechproducts.co.uk/a...ator_Dash.html
Is this the dash you're fitting Patrick?

Hi Cooky

Which model bark buster and mounting kit are you trying to fit?
I asked Barkbusters and they advised me that either BHG1 or Storm S4 would fit my '99 Tenere.
I will be interested to know how you go before I purchase a set.

BTW, I think Barkbusters now have some way of attaching handle bar weights, I've done a bit of a search but could not find anything concrete. Maybe contact bark busters for their opinion.

Thanks
Damo

Patrick,I have'nt bought the unit & dash yet,but I'm getting the unit & dash shown in the links I posted.
What I have to decide is wether or not to fit one with a oil temperature sensor.
I have'nt seen any kits specific to the XT600,but there are kits for aircooled XR's & DR600's.
Which specific dash are you going to fit? Also how are you going to blank off the tacho drive?
When I decide which one to fit it I'll post in my rebuild thread;
http://www.advrider.com/forums/showt...=XT600+project
I'm sure an Australian fitted a trailtech unit & posted pix on one of the XT600 threads

Hi Mark,

I think I delete the whole cockpit, away with tacho and rev..
If it is a proper system, you could get a rev signal from the coil.

oil temperature should be easy, oil pressure, Im not sure.. (where on the engine??)

I try to find a thread of XT's here with a trailtech..

Maybe Mark Mezzo know's something??
Ill try to contact him on skype tomorrow

Hi All,

Thanks for the responses. OK, the Barkbusters are the BHG1 which on the clutch side at least fits. As I mentioned before the throttle side is a bit different and the photo below will hopefully shed some light on my predicament. (Mounting kit is the BSC STD).
