Wind screens ?
Does anyone use them ? I had one on my ST when I bought it but pulled it off after a few hundred miles ...too much wind buffet and wind noise .A friend has a TransAlp with a factory screen and reports perfect quietness !
If anyone has one that works ...reduces both noise and buffet , could they post a photo? I'm short at 5'7'' if that helps . |

My experience suggests that "perfect quietness" is highly subjective and can be significantly affected by rider height, helmet, wind direction and rider tolerance for buffeting. As for me, I removed the "number plate" from my GS because it created unacceptable buffeting. And I spent some time experimenting with different angles. For me, unless it's a full fairing I haven't found a solution that doesn't create unacceptable buffeting. But I'm taller and am very sensitive to buffeting. On my GS, I'd rather ride 1,000 miles in a day with no screen at all than some goofy little thing that others claim is "perfect quietness". But I'm also williing to be convinced otherwise. FWIW, YMMV, etc.

Yep ,I just finished stuffing around for weeks , different angles , different sizes ...I didn't change the colour but everything else ! I've just pulled it all off including the little ST nose cone thing .
I'm going for clear air ! Nothing was working for me .Ear plugs and some kind of scarf to block the air rushing up into my helmet works best for me . |

Oh, isn't that a nice R80ST...showed the photo to Jill (my lovely wife) and she wants one like that (but she already has a R100GS and a K1200R). I should take mine out today and wonder down some back roads. Howard |

Nope, but I like the color.
Notice how compressed the suspension is at both ends - very plush like my ST (and like my F650 used to be before some suspension work). Also evenly compressed at both ends, which is good.

Another R80ST
I have #7586 which would appear to have been made in May 1983, but not registered till December 1984. I'm the 7th owner and the bike has a little over 17k miles under the wheels. It fits right in with my 75/5, 90s and 80/7, it just handles better! but is blitzed by my guzzi cafe-racer........
