Great RR!

I was fortunate enough to vacation in Tuscany a few years ago with some friends. We stayed in a villa near Castellini (sp?). Didn't get to ride, but all I kept thinking was these roads are AWESOME as I drove the rented Opel minivan with my 6 other friends (only 1 other knew how to drive stick! ). The gearing and suspension demanded constant shifting between 2nd and 3rd.... All the while I dreaming of being solo on 2 wheels.

Your RR reminded me how beautiful the Italian country, people, food, and art are and assured me that I must go back and do some riding.

Summer in Italy

Great pics and report. My wife and I will be spending just over two weeks touring Italy by motorcycle beginning on Aug 22/12 in Pisa and hoping to do a loop across to the east coast and up to Venice, across to Milan and back to Pisa. Can't wait!!
Ciao

The Tuscany region is way under rated as a great place to ride. Tons of great roads, and the food, and wine and cappuccino, and, and ...........

I would l;love to go back again, enjoyed it as much or more than the Alps.

My ride report:

You must hook up with Tage, who runs a bike touring/B&B business from his village 20 minutes outside of Pisa. He knows Tuscany like his back pocket and is a great host to boot. You will love, love, love riding in Tuscany. It is God's country. Here is Tage's ride report/sig link: http://www.sitoscana.com/mc_en.htm

Tee Hee! We will be there in 2 weeks. Old farm house 15km west of Siena.
Siena,our favourite place in the world, got engaged there, got married there.
Only downside is we will be in the Tin box and not on my Ducati.

But what the hell, we can carry loads more stuff back using the box.

Tuscany

Thanks hansr433, Tage and I have already been in contact. I've already rented a r1200gs from CIMT.it for the duration of our stay. I thought that by renting the same bike that I own would remove one variable in touring a foreign country by motorbike. We have booked three nights accomodation in Pisa and then the plan is to not have a plan but enjoy wherever we end up. I plan on starting a ride report a few days prior to leaving home and share the experience (if anyone is interested and if I can get the hang of uploading pics from my camera to ipad to forum), maybe it will help someone else in their trip planning and maybe someone will give me a few good ideas to enhance our trip.
Since I should start learning a few Italian words to at least show respect to our host country, I will end with;
Ciao, hanno un grande giorno!! (hope I got that right)
Bry
