The Trail Tech 12v NIMH battery on the page.

Thoughts?

Yelp, paper maps...

you can't get lost in IL. Or just always ride with VFRpilot, he will do the navigating for you.

I'm sure that would work but I question whether you would need it. I'm not familiar with your XR's charging capability but a GPS requires very little power and I would expect the XR could deal with it. Have you tried it yet?

I have witnessed Gary getting lost. It can happen.

Maybe he won't see this.

Hey RRP

I'm a bit east from you in Fairview Heights but you need to quit riding the flat grid and head south for a couple of hours to the Shawnee area, tons of riding for a D/S bike. 2-1/2 hours would have you in the Potosi, MO/Mark Twain area and Bixby!!!

Oops!

My bad, I forgot I was in the Central Illinois page, home of the flat grid, I know, grew up there. (it's still just a couple of hours away...).

Two of us can only take two weeks off. This young one being one of them.

Going to be cranky? I only know him to be cranky. Any yes I think the average is close to 600 a day.

I think it will be challenging but a blast.

I have been riding for 25 years, did tons of touring (Conours owner for years), got into road racing back in 2004 til now (still racing) and got off the street.

Picked up a XR 400 and was able to get it street titled/plated and I think I have discovered the next chapter in riding for me. I am really enjoying buzzing around the backroads near me in Salem IL (Marion, Fayette, Clinton Co so far).

Trying to deck out the XR a bit without going totally stupid just yet. Conti TKC80s, rear rack, bark busters and skid plate for now.

Just trying to have fun with it, which I am.
I had a 98, great bike. Best mod of all was an accelerator pump carb. That and a FMF slip on was it for my performance mods. I ran Pirelli DOT knobbies on it. Try them next time, they are really capable off road. Rode it to work down the interstate quite a bit, the buzz was annoying, but small price to pay for such a capable bike. My Father in law lives down there, rode some of those trails North of Lake Centralia. Sold the XR a couple years ago and bought a Husky 630.

Not yet , but the more I search I am inclined to agree the XR's charging system could handle it.
