William, we've done it before. In fact if we leave from champaign, that is pretty much the first thing we go to on our group rides.

Well, did you all go to the swinging bridge ride? How was it?

Paul and I went to Renfro Valley KY to an AMA Dual Sport. We rode Friday in the Daniel Boone forest, 70 miles of trail. Paul blew the seal on his rear shock on Friday so we bailed out and headed home. No fun riding on just a spring. Looks like we made a smart decision as it rained in Biblical proportions down there.

The area down there has a lot to offer, both in pure offroad trails as well as Dual Sport/ADV roads and such. It takes about six hours to get there.

We did some Adventure driving in Pauls Chevy Silverado pulling my trailer. We had ten creek crossing. I swear the trailer was floating on one of them.

I went out solo today, did about 60 miles west of Mahomet. I was bored and needed to feel that sweet 690 power for a while...

Yes...

a bunch of us did the SBR, it was a great time and perfect weather. Good BBQ also! Nice scenery and pretty easy ride on the gravel. Well worth the time!

William42 and I rode South of Rt.16. We found some pretty remote roads. Some were no more than glorified quad trails. But it was a good day.

When is the next ride? Did William biff in the mud?

There is an AMA Dual Sport in MI this weekend. It is about 6 hours away and looks to be a good one, big bike accessible as well. I am on the fence, but would like to take the 690.

Got any details?

I'm not sure why I'm asking but if it is enticing enough I might fanagle a way to go. With the daughters wedding being the following week the wife probably won't let me out of town.

Oh, BTW, William kept it up the entire time

Well you know what I mean

I think we're putting together a ride over at badlands as well. No date set yet though.

vfrpilot's South Loop

Some more pics of vfrpilot's ride south of route 16.

This bridge was in great shape.

Down this county road it was a little muddy.

vfrpilot with some bad news.

Road is blocked by downed tree. A kid on an ATV showed us the way around.

Back trail from our vantage point on the downed tree.

We did get around the tree.

This road was not on the route. vfrpilot thought it would be a good idea to explore a little. We got around this mud hole and some others.

A great ride by vfrpilot.

Manistee National Forest.......in Michigan. That is the place to ride. I just got back from riding there. I went to an AMA Dual Sport. We did 120 miles of dirt roads, two-track and single track. All pretty much sand. Very little, 4 miles or so of pavement. A person could ride a week there and never ride the same trail/road twice. We need to put together a group ride sometime. But only if it is raining. The dirt roads are just that, dirt, not gravel like around here.
