Little Switzerland, NC?

A friend and I will be heading to the Little Switzerland, NC area this weekend to do some riding (Blowing Rock Rd, 421, BRP, etc.). Anyone have suggestions on where to stay? We're not camping, but we're not looking for a $200/night resort either. I'd also like to hear "must ride" roads in the area if you've got good suggestions. Thanks!

the Switzerland Inn is right there, but without reservations
it's getting close to leaf peeping time

there are a couple of lesser lodges on 226, Big Lynn Lodge is one

do a google for motels near Little Switzerland, NC

Marion, Spruce Pines there's a couple towns within easy riding

If you want to drift north a bit, Google 'motel linville falls, nc'. First cheap choice would be the Park View Lodge in Linville Falls. Second would be Pineola Motel and Inn. Don't let the 'lodge' part mislead you. Park View motel sits on the corner of 221 and 183. With this choice location you are close to Little Switz, right across from Famous Louises' Rock House restaurant, 1/4 mile from the parkway, 181 to Jonas Ridge, then Edgemont, Mortimer, Globe, and on and on and on. I think this is about 15 miles to Little Switz on the BRP.

BTW. Who's yellow DR was that at Louise's Sunday around 4:30?

Try VRBO

I would maybe try VRBO.com, - Vacation REntal by Owner, i have found great deals all over on this site and the people are usually pretty cool. Not priced outrageously as well. Here is a link to a place Blue Ridge Mountains, ...biggest issue will be early comers for the fall leaf season...i think things are starting to change up that way. either way, sometimes a good deal, sometimes not, but i would jump on it...

The Edelweiss motorcycle lodge at the Switzerland Inn is a lot cheaper than the main Inn. Small rooms, but decent.
http://www.switzerlandinn.com/edelweiss.htm

Almost every little side road off the Parkway in that area is a good road.
I like Rt 80 on the way to Mt Mitchell. It's the last road before the closure, I think.

Good info guys. I had checked on the Edilweiss (sp?) cabin and they have been filled for a while. I'll land somewhere. It looks like it ought to be a great trip. I'm all ears for any other suggestions. Thanks.

Try the Celo Inn off rt. 80 in the South Toe River Valley.
It is an english style manor house built by hand with no screws or nails; all pegs and joinery. Absolutely beautiful.
The South Toe river valley just of the BRP is very scenic and only 30-40 min. from Little Switz.

Try out Hwy 80N off the Parkway then on thru the town of Kona NE of Burnsville.

Watch out for Super Troopers on 221 North of Marion.

Our group of 10 has the Edelweiss booked this weekend. There is a great buffet at the Inn's restaraunt on Friday night (Prime Rib and Seafood)

If you get something in the area, stop by and have a cold one with us.

The good thing is, your damn motor can't read. If it says oil on the container, it's pretty much OK to dump in there.... ED.

I booked a room at the Pinebridge Inn in Spruce Pine. It fit the price range and location requirements, and looks like a neat place to stay. Anyone know anything about Spruce Pine? Where to eat, get a beer, ect? Thanks for all of the suggestions so far. I'm looking forward to this ride.
