Stretching the KTM 690 Enduro

A few are starting to pop up near where I am on the 2nd hand market for quite low prices.... I took one for a brief test-ride which re-kindled my desire to replace my XR250 (its way too small for me).

So, the only gripe I had was Id really like it to be a few inches taller. I can achieve some of that extra height via the seat, but what I am curious about is how much is there to be had in lengthening the suspension?

Has anyone tried?

You will get 300mm out the fork with no drama ( apart form paying for it )
the read may be a bit harder as you have a couple of options
with lever ratio's on the linkages and extending the shock , which eve way it will need a revalve, and the rear master cylider might get in the way

you can only get it to 275 mm ,the master cyl get in the way ,for the forks you need a new dampening rod for make theme 275 or 300 mm

No complaints from me on the steering sweep. Just like older KTMs really (my '05 200 is similar). No big deal.

Send your suspension to Javier (Trail Trick). He'll fix it up good for you.

You reckon? I think the amount of steering lock sucks big time. All my other KTMs have heaps more than this piss poor effort. It catches me out every time I jump on it after just getting off something else.

No adjustment?
or do like I did on old KX's and file the stops for woods work-careful of interference though

I do. Definitely no real difference compared to my '05 200 EXC. My '07 SX bikes clearly turn much better. But, other than when turning around on dead end trails, I really don't notice much to be honest. YMMV.

There isnt much to discuss about the steering lock (I regret mentioning it now).
My main question is about the height & suspension (as a means to achieve that height)...

Thanks for that info
Will have to have a look to see what you mean regarding the master cylinder... but I believe you. I guess its no coincidence the new 690ER is 275mm...

Javier,

Would it be possible to make a 25 mm or 50 mm threaded extension to the dampening rod to allow extension of the forks to 275 or 300 mm?

From what I can see, though, the 690 Rally has the master cylinder in the same place?
