I have some pictures and some info about that tiller you posted earlier today. Since I have no idea how to post a picture, haven't done it yet, I'll get some help getting them up tomorrow at work.

The name above the grill is VERY fitting.
If that photo was pre 2002 that Tiller was ladder 5 out the village. Pre 9/11 it was the only tiller left in the city. I think they have got three now.

Nevermind I just realized you can scroll sideways and see the giant 5 on the grill.

Actually there were and still are quite a few tillers. 9/11 destroyed a few, they were replaced. No rigs changed chassis type.
L-6 (Dragonfighters), L-18, L-20, L-5 (The Pheonix), L-101 (Red Hook Raiders), L-118, L-147 (Da Pride "A" Flatbush), L-175 all rock the tiller type apparatus. If somebody told you they were the only tiller around, they were misinforming you. There are more, I just can't think of them off the top of my head.

The photo had to have been post 2002 since the truck is a 2002 model year. Doc gets more mileage out of his file photos than he does his bikes.

And yeah, what Yorkie said, pre & post 9/11, there's a number of tillers out there.

It was definitely after 9/11. Can't you see the tear on the front of the bike by the twin lights?

Ladder #5 is probably one of the oldest continuously in service fire trucks in the history of the U.S. Here's a look at one of the originals:

Thanks for the info. Guess I was misinformed. Given the source I'm not surprised.

I don't know if it was repaired or replaced. If it was repaired it would basically be a 2002 truck. These trucks are so expensive that extensive repairs are usually cheaper than replacing the entire rig.

It gets it's name from the mythical creature that rose from the ashes to fly again.

And yes, there are a lot of tiller trucks in the boroughs.

OK how is it that none of you posted from the Ear last night? Seems like a "give me" tag.

Fixed. Thanks for the details.

No worries, you've been there, not me, or Flat.

We may need some help from time to time keeping it accurate. A solid address when you grab a tag will do wonders in the future.

Game on.

Tanks!!

This one was easy since it was started right away. Jersey took some time since there were 18 or so tags to find and document. We also wanted to track who put it there and who found it (and who got Bruced). PA has a ton of tags on their map, but no info on them. Still must have taken a long time to get set up. Takes a lot of time to get set up but it's quick to maintain.

I figured it would make a Tag-Tour easier sometime.

Now if I only had a bike again........
