forgotten new york
listed under madison square park and gramercy park neighborhood in the book;
" _ Alley is Manhattan's last dirt road, on a block where Herman Melville spent his last years. It is lit by one of NYC's few remaining cast-iron wall lamps. Some scattered Belgian blocks indicate it was paved years ago. There is one remaining residence: 8 _ Alley." Dirt road, Manhattan !?! Bonus hint if you know who Herman is?

(found the alley by the way, great tag )I'm without a bike right now, so this is about the only way I can participate. Thisflatearth is doing the work, school, volunteer with two different organizations at the same time, thing, so it might be a while before he can start grabbing tags again. For now we are the keepers of the cartography, for these two games at least. Let one of us know if you see any errors. We want to keep it accurate. OK, less read-y, more ride-y, more tag-y.
