Went by Bill Eddy's while I was out to pick up a few misc parts to finish off the street legal think ($150 later) I was going out the door when Bill hollered at me. After the sales pitch of trading my GS for the new S10 he had on the floor, then the pitch on trading my DRZ for a new KTM... we talked about putting together a ride for the 55+ crowd (seeing that we both qualify now). May have to drag him along too.

Thumb Step 2

Paperwork in the mail today. Now it's in the hands of the DMV..... Let's see how long the next step takes. Luckily the GS will keep my 2 wheel fix in and it gives me time to rework the turn signals, install the Trail Tech Vapor along with a few other maint items.

I used to ride/race with that group every weekend back in the 80's - BK (Before Kids) We all have mellowed out since those days.

Step 3

Got the paperwork back from the State today - faster than I expected. Now have a choice of a bond, letter of credit or setting up a CD for $2,460. Guess I will run by the bank Monday and see which will be easier. Then down to the local DMV and send everything back in. Now do I have to wait for the title to get back to get the licenses or can I get that when I apply?

Step 4+

Well I had three options. They valued the bike (2001 DRZ400E) at @ $2,460. (I'd sell it for that in a heartbeat) So they need a surety bond, CD, or guaranteed line of credit in that amount. Line of credit was going to cost about $135. CD wouldn't cost anything I just would have to tie up that much money for 3 years, but get the interest off of it. Surety bond was $100. I elected to go with the bond. Got that from an insurance company in town. Went by and added liability insurance - $95/yr (seemed high since my Beamer is only $175 for full coverage). Then to the DMV Assessor - no problem. Licences - walked right in and had a window open. Gave her my paperwork and about 10 min and $19.50 later was walking out with a tag!

12 days and $119.50 total. Now am the proud owner of a TAGGED DRZ400E. Just got to switch out the 13t with the 14t and mount the Trail Tech Vapor and go for a cruise.

Eek Me Too

Well, it looks like I get to do the "Bonded Title Boogie" for the new/old Yamaha R5 that I bought at Barber.
I just got back from the DMV with my paperwork, I guess the next stop is the State Police office in Springdale.

Thumb Next Step

I took the bike to the ASP office in Springdale yesterday. The officer was friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. We had a nice conversation about vintage two-smokes.
I'll send all my paperwork to LR Monday. (after I make copies)

Thumb Sent

Got the paperwork sent to LR this morning, sent them certified mail with delivery notification. So I'll know they got them for sure.

Thumb It's back!

I got my paperwork back from Little Rock!

Tried four places to find someplace that does surety bonds, bank/no, my insurance co./no, the insurance co. my bank recommended/not unless I move all my insurance business to them, a place they recommended/YES!

So anyone looking to do a surety bond, near Siloam Springs, go to "Insurance Connection of Arkansas" on the intersection of Mount Olive and Tulsa Street.
I paid my $100, and should receive my bond in about three days. Then Hi ho hi ho it's off to the DMV I go.
